Don't remember much- it had 'green' in the title and it was about a gay teen who looked a lot like a girl, he stole his moms lipstick and stuff. one of his bullies is also gay but like hiding it, and another one of his bullies is gay and likes the mc but doesn't know it quite yet. also there was a weird pedo teacher

I'm talking BL specifically bc that's where I notice it more. I notice many people 'simping' over these characters that have raped, threatened, beaten/assaulted, or otherwise harmed the MC (or even other people). I don't quite understand how they can do that- to see past the literal evil that the character is because they're 'attractive'. I don't think the excuse that 'it's just fiction' applies because fiction /does/ affect reality to some degree- and even if it doesn't what's so thrilling about reading some poor dude get assaulted until he's stockholmed into 'enjoying' it? Even if the MC runs away and the ML has to grovel or whatever, it could never justify what the ML did to the MC.
Manhwas that influenced this question- JINX, Roses and Champagne, Codename Anastasia, waterside night.
There's a question exactly like this here and the answer's were absolutely horrible. Someone really said it's because they like seeing man suffer like women cause they don't WHAT!? but it genuinely doesn't make any sense cause sadly whether man, woman you still get raped and all that stuff. They just like non-con stuff and come up with some lame excuse to why it's acceptable.
Idgaf about what people like to read but what bugs me is how proudly they say they like seeing sexual assault get thrown around in fiction just because of the fact that it's a man enduring it. Or just the fact that they're horny fucks who can't tell the difference between wanting it and not wanting it.
Reminder to those people that keep saying "I would let him r@pe me" it's NOT r@pe if you actually want it!!!
For me personally i dont like the red/black flags because they're attractive. Even though they're completely horrible I still like seeing the cute moments they do have with the mc and the chasing/redemption arc to come. Like where the mutually like each other. I've read roses and champagne and I like their romantic moments and I think that's what a lot of people are here for, is the romantic moments. To see how they started and where they ended up. We all know they're pieces of shit but it's nice to see growth (even though they're horrible). I don't like stories with it starting out with rape like jinx or waterside night but it all depends on how the story progresses and how all the characters grow and reflect, because now i love waterside night and am excited to see the chasing and redemption arc of jinx. Sorry that was so long, hope that made a little sense lmao
I think it just romanticize things, but I prefer the younger generations (tween & teenagers) don't read this type of black/red Flags because, I see irl, many women who actually addicted being abused (mentally) by their partners and hell it's like talking to a wall when you tried to help them. I specifically said tween & teenagers because sometimes, reading same things over and over, even tho you know it's wrong, it's implemented in your brain. While older people, let say 35+ they usually have had navigated their experiences in life that could help them choosing someone better in relationship (aka not as easy to be manipulated). I don't say older generation won't get affected, I just mean, younger people are easier to shaped. You know the term right? "I can fix him" Term. It's kinda popular and of course toxic. It gives sense of idea of "being special" because uke/FL could change someone who hurt him/her into a better loving person. This also applied irl, just look up the news how people actually being fans of murderer/psychopath.
Anyway, this is just my opinion
Same w me with the irl part. But most people i see on the internet who likes shitty tops are little girls who are straight, with an attraction towards the top. They probably think being raped by a 6'5 man with a good build and a fine face felt good. This too, is what I see on social media such as X and tiktok
