Yes. The younger you are, the more it matters - in a teenage relationship, 2 years gap is a lot (boys on average take 2 more years to develop emotionally than females iirc). Am I going to surprise you if I say that it depends? As with everything, there are upsides and downsides that may or may not apply to current situation. In relationships being unemotional is, in most cases, terrible, because it makes it so difficult to read you. How is someone supposed to gauge whenever you truly liked the Christmas gift they gave......   reply

Bothered? Nah. It's a plot device, just often misused. Rape is a great way (in fiction, of course) of showing brutal dominance of one character over the other. Sex is an intimate act, so twisting this with violence has a wonderful emotional impact based on contrast.
