Is it just me? or this whole bl actors thing just doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t mind ‘straight’ actors playing gay characters on screen but when they still do it off screen for ‘fanservice’ purposes, it just rubs me the wrong way. Like don’t get me wrong but it just feels like socially accepted ‘queer baiting’ to appease a target audience. Most fans know about this and don’t take it seriously however some fans overanalyse and romanticise every little interaction and genuinely believe that the said actors are dating irl. The actors also deliberately feed the delusions and fan the fire until it eventually burns them too. Like whenever they get into a ‘straight’ dating scandal, their career’s burnt into ashes. It is crazy how toxic the bl scene has become. Are only the fans to be blamed or should the actors also be held accountable to some extent. What are your thoughts?
