Asian media is not the only form of entertainment I consume. Like Western entertainment, Asian also entertainment has issues. For instance, a lot of mangas rip off from each other. As soon as someone publishes an interesting concept, there are millions of copycats. I wouldn't call that having more variability. Don't get me wrong though Western media has the same issue. You get more variety by being exposed to different cultures to have access to different ideas, and beliefs, and find similarities in our culture.

I find it weird that Asian countries publish a lot of media embracing rape and sexual assault. A lot more openly than American and British media. Plus there are different forms of it (i.e., incest, pedophilia, bestiality, etc.). Not to say that Western media doesn't produce, it's not as pronounced.

You're giving off the impression that you're okay with rape. That's what men do. Your argument is that if other countries do it, then it's okay. There's nothing we can do as a society to stop or decrease it. That's a wild take.

I strongly disagree. I also find it weird you think I'm entitled by suggesting to stop glamorizing raping women in media. A lot of women in Asia are fighting for equality. Part of that fight is to stop the media from over sexualizing them. This is not a foreigner fighting for censorship but a fellow woman supporting the fight for women's equality.

Also, 50 Shades of Grey is not the most famous romantic story in the West. It's shit too. We make fun of it ALL the time.

The most popular romances would be: the Notebook, Crazy Rich Asians, La La Land, Pretty Woman, A Star is Born, Princess Bride, and Dirty Dancing.

Part of what I wrote was cut off. Basically I said that including rape in storytelling is okay as long as it contributes to an overall purpose for the story. For instance, character development, a plot device, conflict, etc. Basically, nothing that encourages or glamorizes the act of rape. Especially when it portrays that it's men's right to have sex with a woman even when she refuses.

I also mentioned that 50 Shades of Grey was a consensual story. There was no rape. Anastasia and Christian signed a contract and everything before moving forward with their relationship. I think that's the only thing they did right in representing BDSM. I have no problem with sexual fetishes as long as it's with a consenting adult. Who am I to judge?

Theres points that I agree on and I disagree on, mainly that these rape fantasy medias are created by asian women, thats just what they like, im commenting under a rape fantasy manhwa because im trying to tell you that its purely fictional and these east asian women knows it, stopping or even churning more of these medias wont change what heinous men think or do.

Plus I havent said anything about rape media in general or the ones made by men, that i dislike. 50 shades of grey is popular with women, its written by a woman, these types of women-driven rape fantasy is different than rape scenes written by men, it just will never be the same.

There's also a reason why you dont understand why non-con fetish is popular in asian countries, simply because you're just not from that region, its a reoccurring theme that fanworks/media often reflects what trauma or interest the general public of that said region are going through, just like how movies based on racism, war, and murder are popular in America, themes like forced marriage and marital rape is common in southeast asia because its what they go through, there's a genuine psychological reason why rape kink is so common for women in general, its because they can consume it in a controlled environment.

I unfortunately get the ideas that you're bringing up rape in general media rather than rape fantasies written by women, its two completely different things and maybe you're even giving off vibes that it should be better that asian women follow what western people do (sounds familiar?)

Manga/manwhas are from Asia. Content from this website is mostly from Asia. Therefore it will be brought up frequently. If it's from the West, I would be calling it comics. There are shitty comics. People also write stories like this in the West. If people don't like it, people will complain for the same reasons. Bad writing and art will produce bad reviews. If the author can't handle it they shouldn't publish it. Stop making this a racial issue. About 81% of women in the USA have experienced some form of sexual harassment. It's a worldwide issue!
