Isn't this just like a situation of biting the hands that fed you?? It pissed me off that they even considered assassinating him only because he won't be subservient to them when he was the main key for their victory and they even intend to cage him?! Seriously, they just got off a war but they're starting another one by making the person they owe the most dislike them. Why not just let him do what he wants and ask him of his intentions from then on because surely he doesn't want anything to do with them anymore. Can't he just, like, leave or something??
INGRATES!! BASTARDS!! COWARDS!!
That was exactly what I was thinking! Not only was he kind enough to help you out outta his own good will, with only little to return. They were even considering to kill him with his CLOSE FRIEND if they, themselves couldn’t keep him wtf. I doubt once he’s free he won’t do anything to the queen or the other two, but if it was me they would already be on my bad side. Like you’re going back on your promise to a person who single handily brought victory to the war.
Sure it’s scary to think that he might bring a coup de tat but you wouldn’t want him as your enemy, you would want to be on his good side.
But what if he decided to take over the country in the near future? Or what if he indeed left, but joined another country and helped them instead? Yes it's highly unfair that he was put on a leash for all that he did. And the thought of assassination was just downright evil imo. But other than that, that's just how things go sometimes. Reality often isn't as black and white and rose-coloured as we'd like it to be.
To be honest if it was me I'd get pissed, call her out on wanting to put a leash on me, and give her two options. Either retract the "leash", or I'd be leaving the country and take anyone that wanted to join me with me. Because fuck people wanting to control you like that. :P
But, isn't it quite obvious that he's a laidback guy and doesn't want to be bothered? He was just dragged into their mess because of what some noble, or was it the knight, did.
He has enough trouble with the country which summoned him, all he wants is to find a way to go back.
Also, considering I'm just a reader, but I'm hella pissed just knowing what happened and what they did. They're fortunate that he doesn't want to be in another squabble for quite some time.
Well no, that's not quite obvious. They only know he is their ally at this time, but that is all they know. Well, that, and the fact that he uses (in their minds) brutal and decisive tactics that won a war for them with basically no cost and all gains.
See it like this, in their minds he's like a small country with nukes, that the other countries only just found out about, in a world where other countries don't have nukes. And he says he only helped his neighboring country because he wants to end the war. Would you trust such a country to keep it's word on never using those nukes against the country he helped, in the future? Or would you rather at least have SOME insurance that it actually won't? (Again, it's still not right. Just trying to explain the country's viewpoint.)
The villains at the first part of these kinds of stories are usually the most annoying.
They think they are all high and mighty because they have the background and connections, and they would do whatever they wanted with anyone. However, when they are shown that they don't amount much, and that the person they scorned, condemned or thrown away achieved greater things, they are ready to grovel and flatter them as if they hadn't one anything to the MCs in the past.
These are the types of people you shouldn't trust =_= Bloody hypocrites...
That's why it greatly satisfies me when the MC would slap their faces with their abilities, achievements and new skills. The face slapping are the most satisfying moments to read, like "YEAH! SOCK THAT SON OF B*TCH IN THE GUT!" or just strip them of their pride and face.
When he thought she would finally reveal herself as his master, he got another thing coming...
