CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. I READ THE NOVELS FOR SOME TIME NOW AND FORGOTTEN SOME OF THE PARTS.
There were two major conflicts, I think. One is this, Wooyeon locking Inseop and being more aggressive to him, but he softened a lot (in a way lol) after Inseop got stabbed due to a crazed stalker. The second was the CEO forcing Wooyeon to engage in a publicity stunt (dating a co-star) to promote Wooyeon's movie (shit move from the CEO honestly. Made me think twice about him).
From what I remembered reading the novel, there is not much redemption arc BUT on the later part of the novel, it showed Wooyeon's vulnerability towards his feelings with Inseop and how much he adjusted his twisted self to some extent for Inseop. He did try to satisfy Inseop's requests as much as he could and also give the latter some space, which created a LOT of misunderstandings that nearly ended up breaking them apart.
Just to add, Inseop was scared their relationship would get found out and that would affect Wooyeon's career, while Wooyeon did not actually care much. Also, Wooyeon wanted Inseop to be honest with him, but Inseop was too scared of possibly ruining Wooyeon's image and career that he pushed Wooyeon away too much (too much that it was frustrating for me sometimes)
At almost the end of the novel, they actually ended things and Wooyeon let go of Inseop. Inseop went to him and Wooyeon pushed him away knowing just how twisted he could be and that would only hurt Inseop. He said hurtful things, probably to scare Inseop. Most were true tho. But Inseop told him how much he loved him regardless If I remember correctly, they had sex and slept in the same bed together after. Then Wooyeon woke up not seeing Inseop next to him and he was so scared how their reconciliation might only be a dream and reality was that Inseop was gone. He was about to chase after Inseop when he noticed the latter was actually on the rooftop/laundry area. I think that scene gave me the impression of how much Wooyeon is actually scared of totally losing Inseop, not just that obsession of wanting him for himself and doing twisted things.
Also, Wooyeon ended up moving with Inseop to America!!! :)) He gave up his acting career, paid a LOT of breached contracts which he did not actually care about (There was an exchange with the CEO xD). He literally dropped everything just to live together with Inseop!!!! Of course, Inseop was so worried but Wooyeon did not care and just wanted was to have Inseop by his side. Also, he allowed Inseop a cat despite how he much did not like the idea xD He was still a psycho but more domesticated haha Wish there was a lot more of their domesticated life :')
Overall, although nothing would ever compensate or justify all that assault and abuse, however Wooyeon did have a character development (in some way. Better than some toxic semes by yaoi standards xD). He adjusted to Inseop's requests and demands, tried to meet halfway, despite how much he probably hated doing it. I guess his biggest fear was Iosing Inseop or Inseop truly despising him.
Youre right, theres no way hes even going to have a true redemption arc anyway, so any caring emotion from him would be welcoming at the end for a character development. Im a sucker for these stories, that deal with psyche, so i hope the comic portrays this well. Anyway, thank you for the spoils lol

A wild guess (to cope with what just happened :') )
I feel like Jaekyung might lose this time, blame Kim Dan and fires him as his doctor. He's gonna think Dan is untrustworthy and prob kick him out of the house. Then Dan receives a call about his grandma dying or some bad news. Stays at the hospital for sometime. Sees some news about Jaekyung then goes back home. Jaekyung will prob get another boytoy for his jinx. Dan sees it. Everything bad that happened would prompt Dan to run away and disappear. Then by the time Jaekyung finds out the truth, Dan would have been gone. I'm guessing he'd be on break due to his injuries. Then self-reflection. Sees Dan's gift, and so on.
However, it's kinda hard to imagine when Jaekyung's feelings would come in. Wouldn't make sense if it just pops that he fell in love along the way when he'd been nothing but an asshole
I was thinking like a few chapters in the future. Probably when we finally see jaekyung's perspective or something. But yeah, if it's only a few chps in with nothing major going on for jk to start shifting his attitude, it wouldn't make sense for him to start feeling bad.
I just wish Dan would find a way to get out of the situation he's in. I feel like him being with jaekyung would just have him spiralling down because he keeps getting treated so bad :'( They need time apart, for Dan to realize he deserves better and for jk to realize he was an asshole (however that's going to be)
I am not going to explain it (yet) but Jaekyung is crazy for Dan and does seek an emotional connection. Him falling in love along the way does make sense but it is hidden under his insecurities and he does not know it. Falling in love does not mean that it's romantic love then. This is not a fluffy story. He needs to deal with a lot of emotional baggage before he glows up.
I do have the problem of "seeing Dan's gift" (and card). I do agree it is set up to do that.
I just question how because Dan threw it away and that should have been two weeks since then. They should have emptied that trash by now. Dan could have got it later or maybe Jaekyung. Or she is going to have to explain why they did not take the garbage out for 2 weeks.
I see what you mean. With the recent chapters, it seems as if jaekyung's past is horrible which played a huge part as to why he has such a bad attitude now. Also, there's that jinx, working himself out too much and his hatred for losing. Still so many unanswered questions until we see Jaekyung's POV.
I just hope the author is able to show how jaekyung developed his feelings rather that it randomly showing in like "maybe I liked him all along" bit. I get how love isn't all butterflies and rainbows, but with the level of fudged up things jaekyung had done to Dan, him being "in love" all along while doing all that just isn't that... convincing? Sorry. I can't find the right words. Like it would feel rushed or lacking.
Jaekyung needs a major MAJOR character development to at least redeem himself, rather than just a backstory. So that as much as a freaking SUPER RED flag of a person he is, it wouldn't be such an outrage or an absurd thing for Dan to get together with him at least. I rather he go through a character development first and fix his attitude before being shown as in love (just my opinion).
As for the gift, I was actually thinking about him not throwing the trash LOLLL but that would be weird haha Maybe jaekyung (or the cleaner) picked it up from the trash and kept it? Idk. Or something simple like it being brought up only as a topic later on for jaekyung to feel bad.
Imagine if Dan's grandma really did die. And Jaekyung finds out Dan rejected the rival gym's offer that could have saved her. And Jaekyung repaid all that by blaming Dan, suspecting him and treating him like shit ╥﹏╥
Just a theory on how the 90-day suspension would go. Either Dan walks away and JK is left chasing. Or Dan stays and takes care of JK, which is when JK's feelings get established. Also, the next season might finally show JK's past or POV. If the second scenario happens, that'll be a bummer because JK needs to suffer. He need to feel that angst ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Just to add, I find it funny how the trashbag rival was one to brag and talk when he couldnt even win against an injured Jaekyung xD Shows his skills and what the other gym is actually capable of. Weak wins and dirty plays. Good riddance to every person who went to the other gym. They aint gonna be learning shit there lollll
AND GOOD FOR YOU POTATO!!! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I don't think the rival gym's offer would have made a difference re: Grandma. Didn't the doctors tell Dan that there wasn't much more they could do anyway? If anything, her condition becoming hopeless untethers Dan from JJK because he'll no longer require all that money for expensive treatments.
Yup! What I meant was imagine JK's reaction if he found out that Dan chose him over an offer to save his grandma. Regardless of whether the offer could have made a difference or if it was or wasn't real, the fact that Dan chose JK despite ALL that, despite all that he went through and how trashy he was treated, showed how much Dan actually cared for JK and how loyal he had been. If it was anyone else, they would have thrown JK under the bus in a heartbeat. I mean, saving your only family over an asshole?? That should have been a no-brainer. Plus in a moment of desperation, anyone would cling to any solution that could make things less worse. But the fact was, Dan stayed.
It made his words "Don't you trust me?" weigh even more because he did everything to help JK only for the guy to question his loyalty and character. Like that hurts A LOT. The angst ╥﹏╥ I wanna see JK all guilty and remorseful tbh (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
