I managed all the way to ch 86. The start was good, the consept is good, the art is really pretty. But.. the story is just not for me. Storytelling jumps all over the place, there's zero logic and a lot makes absolutely no sense. Then again it's author's freedom to do what they want and my freedom to drop the story when I don't want to read it anymore. Which is right about now.
Oh and yeah, what the heck was going on with tbe enlarging ass and thigs of the lead? Not my cup of anything xD
It's just something little that catches my eye on a lot of these reborn/soul travel manhwas. It's the dresses and hairdo's. In this particular manhwa they appear to dress European Victorian style (Victorian refers to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901)). With the exception of using way too many bows and frills.
Also, Victorian ladies would never ever go out with their hair loose. If they'd try to enter a ball with a hairdo like Canarias, I doubt they'd even get in the gates. It would be considered vulgar and her parents would have sent her off to the countryside into hiding long ago. Let alone the crown princess appearing in such a way.
Obviously the author can use his/hers artistic expression however he/she likes, it just seems to be so common with the manhwas. They all have 3 million bows and frills with flowing hairs down to their calfs. To get a better look at the actual style you can, for example, watch the movie Marie Antoinette. :)
What I don't understand is why does she constantly get close to Jenette even though she knows it'll probably end badly.
Based on the chapters so far, athy discovered that Jennette is not her sister. Dunno if there wiill be a twist or what.
Claude preferred J at the original story, but it all changed when atthy was reborn. Plus, Claude hates athy because he feels that athy was the reason his love died, that she left him for athy's life. So, he cannot bring himself to love something he considers the big reason why he feels miserable. Butttt, it's all in the past after athy was reborn Claude learned to love her sooo sooo sooooooo dearly.
Yes. I also like u. Waiting for Lucas to comeback. Just sharing. That absolutely Claude's brother. There is a chapter Claude's found that Janette's mother was cheating with Claude's brother. That is my understanding And if my memories don't betray me Janette's birth is Claude's brother experiment of his magic. Yes she conceived with dark magic to have a baby(Janette) and dark magic is Claude's brother. Even they engage that woman still cheating with Claude and Claude kill his brother (who is the king at that time so that he will be the king after that). Like our friends said Claude hate Anathasia becoz of her, her mother, Diana(Claude's beloved) sacrifice her life to give a new life rather to live on with Claude. This is my understanding after read the chapter and explaination by Anathasia. It has said that Janette is not Claude daughter. In the original novel. After Anathasia dead, Claude learn Janette not his daughter and Anathasia is the only daughter he had but it does not change anything and Claude does not feel any remorse for what he done for Anathasia. So that, main character make conclusion Anathasia is the pitiful character in the novel. But to know Janette is not Claude's daughter you need to read in detail and don't skip any word (I said that becoz I had a tendency to skip if to many word that are not dialog but from experience I don't want to miss any important thing so I read word by word) becoz it's not directly tell the secret of Janette's birth just by one chapter. It continues. So the conclusion that I can make they are cousin even though to get Janette life in her mother womb is not in the normal way to get children like Claude and Diana did.
Yeah maybe you are right. The woman conceived dark magic as a Claude's daughter. I had explain my understanding below. When you said it like that maybe that a scheme that woman do to save her position. Thanks to all this conversation sometimes we can look the truth from this confusing scene. Maybe I will read it again but there a chapter said that Janette's is not Claude's daughter to be exactly maybe becoz the dark magic.
Maybe someone can clear this for me. I'm not expert in this ancient culture so perhaps I just got lost in translation.
It's about Lewis's concubines. In ch2 the nanny (old experienced servant) mentions about morning greeting of concubines and talks about them following the rules. When Yuri goes to greeting there are multiple women present, but it's mentioned that Lauren is the only concubine.
Ch56 forward there is another morning greeting where Yuri complaints about Lewis's multiple concubines. One of the women calls Yuri as sister and Yuri's nanny actually introduce them by name.
Ch57 they talk about Yuri's virginity, even to Lewis. But afterwards Lewis denies that they are his women and there is a term "singing girl" used.
I don't know what a singing girl is, but some type of performer or entertainer comes to mind. Would an entertainer be expected to do some morning greetings or even be allowed to hang around with the princess and call her a sister? I thought this was only expected of concubines? Let alone them talking and questioning the princesses virginity in her and the princes face?
Lewis also apparently never took any women to the mansion apart from Yuri, so where did these singing girls come from? By whom? And why must he keep them there if it's so uncomfortable for him? Confusing.
It's that shitty nanny handiwork under the order of the Imperial concubine mother of lewis who is also a very unlikable whamen. Even lewis is tired and not wanting to bother with his mother and got angry because she wants to kill yuri and control his life... Whew that's a lot but yeah it's the gits of the story. (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
As far as I can infer, they arent lowly born girls, probably high officials' daughters or nobles daughters, not officially married and therefore not a "official" concubine. They're basically bed warmers that he can take interest in and choose to marry officially if he wants to, but he doesnt want to. I think singing girl is just a shitty translation for something that we dont know, but probably it means that their jobs are to entertain and impress the prince for him to choose to officially marry them. Theyre placed there in his mansion by force by someone of a higher rank who needs him to pick brides and produce many offspring. It's a political stunt that's very common. The prince has no interest so he doesnt touch them but they are part of his household. Getting rid of them without a good reason will look disrespectful to the person that forced them on the prince (probably the queen). The mc was considered trash for many years so even lesser ranked girls were seen as higher than her, therefore she had to greet them with respect, especially because they're likely other noble women. All systematic oppression within the house. Also, calling others as sister is a common form of politeness between even strangers.
p sure it's referring to brothel girls. if he didn't pick them up himself then they probs got shoved into his mansion by others. most likely his mother, brothers, etc. usually those types are used as people's spies. they normally have a p low rank in the mansion even if they do at some point gain the lords attention. Low level concubines, p much. (as for the one supposed concubine...she was of a higher social status and class thanks to her family so she would have been married off to him as a concubine even if he never touched her.) since they other girls are below a certain rank they wouldn't be greeted and would either give their greetings or would basically be treated as slightly better dressed servants and not usually really seen.
I noticed a lot of negative comments about the female lead. But I could relate to her. If I was suddenly thrown into arranged marriage with a guy I never met before, having to live with him, been kicked out of my room and to top it all had feelings for another. I'd probably fight against it even more, most likely not been able to receive his feelings either. It would be devastating.
Some cultures obviously still have arranged marriage custom, but she (like me aswell) grew outside the village attending normal school life of a teenager. I'd say it's pretty normal to rebel against this situation. :)
This is just my opinion, please don't drag me to the gallows! Contains some spoilers.

I feel like this happens in so many similar type of novels and manhwas. The start is usually interesting and you'll be rubbing your hands together, making pop corn and can't wait to read more. At some point you'll start to see filler episodes and the character development going awkward. There's tons of monologues that may take even 4-5 chapters to finish. Some sudden weird holiday trips or sneaking out in the middle of the night that kind of really doesn't go well with the main characters personality so far. Plot holes start to fill up the scene as well. This story in particular I would have loved to see for example the coming of age banquet, don't know what happened to it. Also what happened to the novels main character Olivia? She's sitting in the castle party planning?
Poof suddenly the nightly weird sneak out to see the nanny ends up with main character going to a temple and get sum magic powers! Top level fantasy gear on. Did author maybe had one too many coffee cups while writing?
This problem is by no means in only this story, seems to be quite a few of them around.
I just had to drop this at chapter 75. It was just going all over the place and the original interesting story just wasn't there anymore.
Maybe I will try again at some point. Happy Easter to everyone!
Gurl how did you even read till 75?? I got bored with the dragging & left at 32! Now, I just saw this in my updates & got curious. There's only 90 chapters till now! Last I read was back in '21! There's only 30 chapters per year?? How much is the author trying to milk??
I couldn’t agree more
true , first 20 chapters are a strong start for every manhua , and then it is the fastest drop in the west
and it is quite sad that the new stories can't even make past chapter 1
