I get that. In neutral about her, but I can see that she’s not really changing as much as it may seem. She still has those habits of wanting to force her will on Lily and deciding for her what’s the “best”, when that’s what got her where she ended up in the past.

Tbh same some ppl can forgive and forget, but I don't think I'm one, after reading more chapters I noticed that lily isn't the clueless child that is being fooled by her mother's change of attitude but an infinitely kind child but also unstable, her mom's redemption probably didn't start yet

unlike u, i have no problem with holding a grudge against the mother - yes she is working very hard to make-up for what she did. but cause she is the mother, i find it hard to forget or forgive how she abused her daughter & allowed others to abuse her. 100 more chapters from now i think i will still be holding a grudge ╮(￣▽￣)╭

That’s very fair, I’m kinda like that most of the time too. Especially with neglectful fathers manhwas where they suddenly do complete 180 cause their daughter is either cute or useful or smth.

i get u - but fathers don't have the child inside them for 9 months, that baby is basically u. so yes it is angering when father or mother neglect their child. but to me, a mother doing so is worse somehow (￣∇￣")

Tbh, I think for me it’s the same, or even for fathers it’s worse. Cause imo like keep in mind that women in those eras usually had children to create heirs for men. Seems like she didn’t plan or want to have children when she had Lyrica either. I’m not excusing her btw, but I get where resentment from mothers can come from. Not to mention how risky pregnancy is (especially back then), how painful giving birth is and how huge of an effect on your body it has, like on TikTok there’s a girl with a list that has like a hundred of things that can/did happen to women after giving birth when it comes to their bodies and health. She lived in poverty too and in such misogynistic times not many options, especially with a kid too. Also, depression after giving birth is very common and normal among mothers. Of course all of those things should never be taken out on a child, again not excusing her, but it’s much easier for me to understand where mothers resentment can come from than fathers. Usually they are the ones who need/want children and they just gotta orgasm in a woman for it (easiest and funniest part of the process) and yet they can’t even fulfill their very basic duties of it? Also, the difference between Lyrica’s mother and those fathers is that she genuinely changed, is living purely for Lyrica and tries her best to be different. All those fathers manhwas are about fathers being neglectful/straight up abusive, and it can go either:
1. Child is suddenly inteligent and therefore useful.
2. Child is cute and clingy, literally begs for their attention no matter what.
In either of these cases those fathers don’t actually change as people, kids have to earn their affection and if they weren’t “this” or “that” they probably would still get mistreated. Those guys don’t change as people and usually, if there are siblings involved, create huge favoritism. Lyrica’s mother was horrible, but she actually regrets it, actively tries to change (also as a person, not just a mother), pretty much only lives for Lyrica and Lyrica doesn’t have to earn her affection. She also defended the prince after seeing emperor’s harsh “parenting” style

I feel the same way, the mom is a good character but a bad person.
