Usually I'm terrible at keeping with chats but YAOI (▰˘◡˘▰) so if anyone else is feeling for a small chat my Instagram is mkerrigan_99 or maybe chat groups like Groupme or Whatsapp but..... technology???? and I don't know how to do anything.
I'm an 18-year-old female in college, from New York City although living in Berlin now. Been reading yaoi for since I was 11 if not younger.

Same. I've been inactive in my discord group for months now. Wouldn't be surprised if I've been kicked.

In my defense, my parents banned me from any social media involving strangers.

I just wanted to thank every person who took a look at my essay today. Your feedback and comments are deeply appreciated. If anyone else is interested I wrote a critical analysis about the historical use of rape in Japanese literature which as we all know is constantly used in yaoi. If you want to learn more about traditional works of Japanese literature, the Omegaverse, or the slash fiction come take a peek at my work. And if you have any comments, you disagree, you agree, anything please share. I would love to hear the thoughts of my fellow Fujoshi.

really well written!!!! I'm amazed at this depth of analysis given that yaoi is generally not a critically inspected branch of art. Good job!!!!

Dear Mangago Community,
This year I took a class about sex and gender in Japanese literature and Culture. For my final paper I wrote an essay that I think you all would like. I discuss the historical use of rape which, as we all know, is seen constantly in yaoi. If you want to learn more about traditional works of Japanese literature, the Omegaverse, or the slash fiction come take a peek at my work. And if you have any comments, you disagree, you agree, anything please share. I would love to hear the thoughts of my fellow Fujoshi.

Holy shit, Supernatural created the Omegaverse trope?! Wow, who woulda thunk. Lol, I enjoyed the read and how truthful it really is, yaoi is a separate reality. Thanks for sharing!

During my freshman year I wrote a paper about female writer's, focusing specifically on Murasaki. You hit the nail on the head, except The Tale of Genji could arguably be used to fight patriarchy as well. In Murasaki's time, women were seen as impure beings because of things beyond their control. Being emotional was looked down upon. Menstruating was horrid among other "feminine" characteristics.

Truly, the only reason she was able to write The Tale of Genji was because she was lucky enough to be in the right class and the language allowed for it (female writers had to use an entire different character system). So, to finally see a man, Genji, become illogical and emotional (something that was seen as "feminine") and face consequences was a big step forward. It was a step closer to reality. For once, men embraced femininity instead of insulted it.

Nice writing. I don't think any one who has read The Tale of Genji wasn't creeped out by his "urges" for young muraskai. Lol

!!! thank you for sharing. we learned much aboutbsex in Japanese culture and literature during my Sex and Culture class, and i finally understood why so much of the same tropes are used and seen throughout different Japanese media. thank you again for sharing this!

Lovely and very truthful documentation on the truth of the yaoi genre- admittedly I am guilty of using yaoi as an escapism and so on.If only more people, especially young fujoshis knew this-for they are very misinformed by how badly homosexuality is portrayed through yaoi and have very wrong perceptions on the topic.Good job!

The Tale of Genji is considered to be a master work of court life and manners of the Hei an period. (11th cent.) Jpn. Genji is in love with his father's (the King) wife which he cannot have. He can do no wrong in the eyes of others hence the name of Shining Prince, other women line up to be with him .but he other wants this one woman. She rebuts him until she gives in. She leaves pregnant. Genji marries Someone else does not love who dies. He meets a young girl who looks like his true love and he takes her in to raise her. He breaks he heart to and marries some one else. the rest of the book deals with his children and grand children. The book contains a lot of court customs and background, what people did with their time.

Nicely written. I like your analysis, and it's very informative about the growth of yaoi. I read through the whole thing, and I made some suggestions on the side. I hope you don't mind. They are pretty minor mistakes.
