iirc from the novel spoilers, the church was the one behind shuli's death but does anyone know if the cardinal (the priest who always stare at shuli) is the mastermind or the entire church planned it together?
Cardinal actually loves Shuli but since she was married he had a “if i cant have her no one can” mindset and it was actually the whole church and some corrupt nobles that planned her death its cool tho the cardinal actually punishes himself like literally physically harmed himself cuz he knew that he sinned.

I’m not aure if Im entirely right or not, but I remember reading from a previous spoiler comment (from approx 6 months ago) that said that the mastermind behind her death was the cardinal...He had one of those insane crushes on her where his logic was ‘if i cant have her, then noone can’, like, literally
