Uke and Seme is only used for BL. also the term Uke and seme is referring to who is top or bottom in a bl. ML and MC is just who's the main character as in who the story is following and who is the male lead.
I'm pretty sure it can be use in all type of situations. Ml and mc are somewhat like uke/seme. it just tell what position the mc or ml is. You can use mc/ml in all type of situations but uke/seme are used as who is bottom or top
