This story has a lot of potential. I like the drawings and I feel like the plot isn’t too bad, but the translation isn’t good and confusing. Also I kinda don’t understand why suddenly the prince and the rival fall in love with her. It just seems too convenient to install a love triangle. Overall I guess I’ll give it a 3/5 for the potential but it’s a shame that it’s a bit wasted by other defaults!

Obsidian going back to where she was before the show but she definitely got more confident, I thought it was great that she tried to save that girl and then to face her ex husband (a piece of crap). Moon owl finding her and helping her to gain the confidence she was missing to get rid of her ex, was amazing as well! What a nice turn, I can’t wait for the next chapter as he will tell her more about himself, so maybe she’ll finally know he was the boy in the library??
Also Marianne appearing in a really badass way, surprising but also good twist! Just hoping she’s gonna be a great character

I’m gonna add this as a supposition but maybe there’s no real antagonist in there, they’re just wary of each other because they think the other may be plotting something. But given we still don’t have the reasons for Marianne’s disappearance in the first place (that maybe we’ll get soon), it also could be that it has nothing to do with at least Moon Owl and Alexandrite. I was just thinking as Alexandrite has been quite “kind” to Obsidian, at least in terms of helping her to get out + giving her stuff + telling her the truth about how it was not him and he’s older. Some of his previous actions seemed sus to me, but he had no reason to confirm he was not that boy if he wanted to keep her “in his pocket”, also in the same fashion Marianne had no reason to come back in the jewel box and to save him if he was the danger, so I’m just emitting the theory that whatever made Marianne disappear didn’t have to do with him and Moon Owl…

Honestly everyone has their different tastes and is free to like and dislike stories, but if you did not like this story, nothing keeps you from just stepping out. Insulting other readers and judging them for liking a story is not the flex that you think. It costs nothing to be respectful of other people’s tastes, I didn’t think it needed to be said but apparently it’s a useful reminder for some people…

negative opinions/criticism is very helpful in getting a more well rounded view on any form of media.
if i think you have shit taste, why should that bother you?

The summary didn’t appeal much to me but the story is good. I find the way everything is depicted with a sense of reality fantastic, the story gets cruel sometimes and it just seems terrible. There’s no embellishment of what’s happening.
It has a lot of strong characters that are conflicting and not always morally correct, everyone has different goal and objectives but it doesn’t mean that they’re evil in themselves, they’re just doing everything to survive. I found myself disliking the King and liking him sometimes for example - and it’s a good thing to say. You’re involved in the story, and it’s not black or white, just like it is irl.
The FL has a pretty strong character, she’s put in a rough situation right from the start, a situation where she’s uncomfortable and that she fights a bit, but she finds ways to succeed and to be smart about it. The romance with the ML isn’t overwhelmingly present but it didn’t disturb me, because I found the story captivating enough. Some speeches left me strong impressions, such as the one the Queen said to the King after she met him again about forgetfulness. It was so bittersweet but also tragic, in a beautiful way - everyone had advised against it and they got together, and she ended up regretting it. It’s all there is to the story, tragedy and drama, in a way that is very enjoyable, to me at the very least.

Under negotiated things- like Ash just introducing things whenever they have sex and never asking beforehand that’s really… urgh. I don’t like it. Like suddenly putting a toy inside of him when they haven’t really had a talk before about it? Like surprise! No. That’s not consensual, and you shouldn’t do things to your partner that they don’t know about beforehand.
And I’m no expert in relationships but dang the mixed signals from Ash like okay we only have “one” point of view, but the way Ash has always treated him to saying “we’re nothing.” And then saying it again IN HIS FACE “we’re absolutely nothing” oh fuck yourself. I feel so bad for Carlyle, his life is terrible in many ways and he’s so self depreciative, always thinking hes worth nothing and all, I just want him to find his self worth and pride and live happily!!
There needs to be some crawling done if they have to get back together, or honestly I won’t be satisfied with the story…

i think he said "we are nothing" to avoid creating rumors between his coworkers. but when he said it to karlyle, i think it was more of a "we are nothing YET" since he was still waiting to confirm their feelings for e/o. but i agree with OP, it was giving sm mixed signals. even if they weren't together yet, he didnt have to say all that or he could have at least phrased it another way lmao

Yes exactly! Like I get that he didn’t want to create rumors with his coworkers, but the way he phrased it with Karlyle was way too rough. And it probably had a sense of “we’re nothing yet”, but all he said was “we’re nothing dot”, which is pretty violent to take in the face, especially as Karlyle was coming to ask him out. It’s probably a misunderstanding, but that was really phrased in the worst way… silly boy

You forget that it was Karyle himself that was always telling Ash to not develop any romantic feelings for him, and was it not Karyle himself that said they were no more than sex partners?
As for the introduction of new things without telling him, I clearly recall Ash asking Caryle if they could try something different and Caryle agreeing before Ash brought out the vibrator.
Tbh, this manga was all about the misunderstandings miscommunication can bring in a relationship and I love how they worked that out in the end.
I do think you should read it again, especially those parts you and I mentioned and see that Ash is just a carefree, fun-loving guy that means no harm and is an absolute green flag, if a rather possessive one, but that adds to his charm of course.

I honestly expected people to disagree with me when he’s been described in many subs as an absolute green flag and coming around to defend those parts of the story when it’s such a well liked story. And it’s fine that you and I have different opinions about it, but still. Their relationship is lovely and basks in misunderstandings yes. However try something different does not mean telling your partner what you’re about to do, I’ll have to disagree on that fact. And he did say that for the relationship, but that still does not entail Ash saying in his face that they’re nothing. It was indelicate, especially after that much time spend together. Of course it’s all misunderstandings miscommunications and else, but it won’t change what I felt about those moments to me. Doesn’t mean I didn’t like the story and maybe I will read it when I want to.

I had forgotten what are the side stories. I thought I was in for some treat about Blaine and Vera but instead I see the prince. So disappointing. To me, it felt like she was never serious about him and always toyed with him and anyway, he didn’t suit her at all. He wouldn’t have been able to bear her dark side, like Blaine does and loves it, because they’re the same. Just earlier in the story he was getting chills and horrified at how she was smiling after the court (for the murder of her husband or his burial). Now imagine if he knew everything she had done? He would want her gone very probably.

It’s my personal opinion, but I don’t like when stories do an alternate what IF she had ended with another ML, because to me, if you as the author chose to make her end with someone, stick to your guns, don’t try to just be a people pleaser and to come back on your decision like this (especially as it’s super rushed as it’s a side story, the resolution with Carter sucks on this side as she doesn’t really deal with him in the fullest etc). It’s not the first time I’ve seen it and it’s never been an amazing decision. I would have fully preferred some side story between Blaine and Verta, maybe something about kids could have been possible.

Anyway other than that the story is still fantastic, love Verta’s character and how the whole plot pawns out. It’s just amazing.

Or maybe it would be better to say annoyed. Moon owl why didn’t you tell her the TRUTH? I was feeling so bad that he couldn’t just go ahead and say, yeah it was me. Or something like this. I’m frustrated with the way misunderstandings happen between them. But also, I feel like Obsidian is pretty naive. She only needed Alexandrite telling her “hey that guy is using you and you’re not safe” to have huge doubts and believe him, not thinking that Alexandrite could also want to manipulate her. Moon Owl just literally poured his heart to her, explaining why he picked her, how he wanted to rescue her, in such a desperate way, that seem pretty hard to fake and she doesn’t even believe him. He’s telling her how he’ll take responsibility for her and assure her future, he risked his own position to get her on the show, but nah let’s believe Alexandrite. Please, I hope she takes the right decision in the future and that they finally clear up the misunderstandings and reveal who they are because I can’t take it anymore…

Well I think he didn't tell her bcs he thinks she didn't like him back then and so on.

I’m not done with the story, I’m still in the middle of reading it, but I’ve been stricken by similarities between the two of them. Hence the plot of the daughter having the most powers being mistreated by her family, dying because of it and coming back and deciding to take revenge and change it all. However untouchable lady took a road that was frankly difficult to read and that was disappointing of an ending. So far this story is far more sensitive about things, the FL seems like she’s gonna accept help and not simply use the other guy, she discovers what it’s like to have someone by her side, in brief it feels for me so far that it takes the road of what untouchable lady should have been.

I Think some people in the comments forgot one thing, is that Ludwig’s mother was never meant to die. It was Ludwig who was targeted. Right from the start it was the cake for his birthday, that he was meant to eat. The king being apathetic and presented as not very smart, I’m not sure it’s him, although hypothetically he could have wanted to move his other lover and his other son to a better position. My guess was that it’s the uncle who wanted to kill Ludwig right from the start. As we saw with Ludwig’s mother, since she had him she was less concerned about power and she wanted him to be happy, even if she wasn’t the prince. In killing him, the uncle could stage that it was the king who had done this and motivate a rebellion where she’d climb to the queen position, and could make him the king as he loved her and wanted to be with her. Also he probably didn’t want Ludwig to exist as it was a reminder of how the woman he loved had chosen someone else. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Ludwig’s mother ate the poisoned cake and died in his place, so his uncle hated him for that, but decided to still use him and create hatred in him toward his family so he would agree to stage a coup and to become the crown prince, maybe even helping his uncle access to power with this. It’s only a theory tho.

Otherwise, I love this story! I like the plot of Natalia being able to see emotions and I like the relationship she constructs with Ludwig. It seems like it’s about to be a short story but it kept me entertained and enjoying it all along. Only negative point is an attempt of rape, that was stopped cause I would have dropped it had it happened.

The backstory seems to confirm that Moon Owl is the ML, as he’s the person Obsidian has been looking for, and you can see he has a lot of feelings about that past, just like her. I actually enjoy the fact we got to dive further in what was his past, where he was coming from, why the mask (and eventually why the hood as well). And I’m pretty relieved about that.
Maybe I’m the only one but I get weird vibes from Alexandrite, there’s something unsettling about him, like he’s trying to manipulate Obsidian for certain objectives, making her turn against Moon Owl and showing up as her “only ally” in all of this. But we never really get to see his real feelings and he somehow always seems to say whatever Obsidian wants to hear - to me it is a bit creepy and could be a clue about a deeper meaning behind his presence (trying to derail the game, unmask her as not Marianne, maybe he could be behind Marianne’s original disappearance, etc etc). It’s of course only hypothesis at this point but I’ll still be watching over him warily cause he’s suspicious to me.
