This question popped into my head a few months ago, and it’s been bothering me. So, omegas have heats. And I assume heats are for sexual maturity?? Idk. So does that mean in stories where an omega hasn’t had a heat yet or is having their first heat, it means they aren’t an adult or just became one? Except for stories where it’s suppressants keeping the heat at bay or some medical condition etc.
Because I read ao3 a lot, and sometimes the stories I read have an omega spending their first heat with their partner or their first heat hits and they have no idea what it is etc. Especially in situations where no one told them about heats and everything. And either an age isn’t given but there is no tags/warnings on the fic, or it is alluded/context says they’re an adult in the story. So now I’m confused on how that works
In omegaverse can heats just happen at any age? Even if you’re well into adulthood?? Or is it supposed to be like with women and puberty/periods? it makes me concerned about some stories I’ve read
I think heats are like periods, where when you manifest as an omega it happens at a certain period of time. When a person manifest as an omega really depends on the story. In some stories they young in some they adults, it also depends on the condition they live in and they can manifest at any time. Also there’s “recessive omegas” that are practically betas that don’t get heats so it’s possible that when they meet their partner they can go into heat.

Yea cause in the story "My hyung's omega" the seme manifested as a secondary trait when he was a lil boy but in "romance but not romantic" the uke is a grown ass man when he manifested as an omega and in "omega complex" they were teenagers when they manifested so it really depends.

In theory, the bill is good and I understand where it’s coming from. The basis of the bill I agree with. But there are certain parts I don’t agree with. Basically, this bill is meant to combat the sexualization of minors in visual fiction and lolicon and shotacon. Like in anime, manwha, manga, video games etc. However, the bill says anything “obscene” of a minor could be banned. And characters that LOOK like they could be a minor could be illegal and banned too. Even if the age is unknown or in canon they are 18+. These parts I do not agree with.
Basically, someone could see Chuuya from BSD. They say, hey he looks like a minor! Then say any sexual art of him is illegal. Then also say his characterization is “obscene”. Now the anime is banned and any sexual/suggestive art of Chuuya is too. And if you get caught owning and watching BSD,
liking and possessing NSFW art of him, etc. you could go to jail. Even though Chuuya in canon is like 20+.
For the obscene thing, the definition is very broad. Something as simple as kissing could be classified as obscene.
I agree with this law to the extent of a 100% confirmed fictional minor being obviously sexualized or in explicit sexual scenes. But I do not agree with the rest of this laws parameters. The definitions are too broad, certain cases are way too subjective, it just becomes a slippery slope. Any story or art with sex where a character’s age isn’t stated/known, any story/art where the state says the character “looks too young” to them could be banned and those owning it and reading/watching it could go to jail. Even in cases where material is not sexual. Most video games, anime, manwha, etc. could probably fall under this. Almost every manwha on this site too, especially in BL with all the twinks.
They’ll take one look at Hyesung, Kim Dan, Lee Youngjin from origin of species, anyone else and probably say they all “look to young” and are too feminine and anyone owning and reading manwha with them or enjoying fan art are criminals and pedos. They will see Bleach, Deathnote, etc. and say what the minors are doing is too obscene or something and then any connection with those two series will be banned too. This also makes series where there are time skips, characters age up, etc. and any art of characters from those series liable to being banned and illegal too.
I only agree with this law if it’s about fan art, series, etc. with minors in fiction that are definitely confirmed to be one. Not just suspecting they are a minor or personal opinion on how old they look. I also only agree if the material has blatant sexualization and/or full on sex scenes of the confirmed minors. Not situations where a character simply kisses someone their own age, drinks alcohol, makes a dirty joke or whatever.
These are my thoughts on it. Idk if anyone else has heard about the bill or what they might think though.

It’s just an example. Certain fictional characters look young or like they could be minors, and this law will affect that. This is why as much as I understand why some people are supporting, I myself do not. Because the legislation is being sneaky, not specifying boundaries, and also planning on going after things that are stupid and not even pedophilic (like characters that THEY personally think look too young)
I dont know much ab this since im not from the US, but this is the issue with censorship on fictional things of any kind, bc i get what its going for, but the reality is that they will put whatever they dont like under "obscene" and get it removed, some of the first ones to go are queer media and pieces on racism etc. Just look at the censorship thats going on in China, they deem queer relationships as immoral and so they censor it to death.

If someone likes reading incest or whatever, I don’t like it but I don’t think someone should go to jail. Even more horrible things in fiction. If a real person isn’t being hurt by the media (as in, not based off a real person and it can’t be proved that it made someone do something) then I do not think it warrants prison time.

The cow actually gave me a hard time but I did do it, lol- we were hiding in the farthest room possible and my sister vanished? She was nowhere near my sight. Anyways, there were several cows and they got inside

There were many tourists who were staying at the same mansion but they didn't know there were two murderers inbetween them and they murdered all of them except the two girls then all the corpses disappeared, only the blood was left. They didn't know who did it, the girls didn't know the other two killed them before anything supernatural happened. The boy suggested to stick together until they can get out of there, in the room, there was a balcony and window. The two planned to murder the girls even though they knew it was risky but before that, The girl was splat open infront of them in a second and they didn't know how. The only girl managed to find out about their two nature but she didn't know much and the two were unaware of it. They planned to murder her but they were unsuccessful. The manager comes and tells the girl about what she asked before. The girl somehow knows that in a closed room there won't be any supernatural thing happening. The manager also tells her about the pool. Now, the boy doesn't show up anymore. The girls talk at the pool, the girl had a knife and she planned to kill her but she didn't for some reason and then after that they walked to the room. That's it.

I was always under the assumption it was just 1 year or more commonly was. Maybe because most manwhas I read also have drinking so they’re like 19 or if real age is brought in it seems to only be a year younger from the few times it has been. But then I’ve seen people saying Korean age is 2 years older? Or more commonly so? And do all manwhas hse international or Korean age?? Bc sometimes it seems they go with international (like following college timelines in stories/enlistment or time skips sometimes) Now I don’t know what age anyone in manwha is anymore and in stories not set in Korea but are still manwha (?) I believe. I usually just go by the age the story provides or on info sheets but idk. Like Seo-In from Backlight is listed as 26, but is he actually 24/25?
It's 2 years. Koreans count that the baby is borth at 1 y/o AND their age doesn't changed with their birthday but with the new year
So basically even if they were born in March their age doesn't change until Jan 1st. Going with this example, a baby born in March is already 1y/o but in new years they still turn 2y/o
In Korea, when you’re born you’re considered a year old. Then, legally, you age up at the start of the new year every year.(but people usually celebrate their birthdays on their actual birthdays. They just are legally one year older according to the government)

Anyways, to answer your question, Manhwas use Korean age. If you pay attention stories that go from all ages to +18 only do after the characters turn 20y/o (18 in international age). For example Cherry Blossom After Winter

Don’t know how you got 2 years, but it’s usually 1 year difference from US ages.(though if they’re born late you can make the argument it’s two years for a certain period of time)
Korean age works that they are 1 year old at birth, then when the new year comes they become 1 year older. So it can be both 1 year or 2 years more than their actual age, it just depends on when they were born. For example lets say we have two babies, baby 1 was born on Jan 10, 2024 and baby 2 was born Dec 20, 2034. At that point they were born they are already 1. Then when the new year comes on Jan 1, 2025 they both turn 2 regardless of their birthday. So even tho baby 1 is almost 1 years old and baby 2 is not even 1 month old they are now both 2 years old in korean age.

It’s not two years it’s one year difference. A 1st year in highschool is 16-17, a 2nd year is 17-18, and a 3rd year is 18-19
That’s why a lot of novels you see are labeled 19+ and not 18+ (like in reincarnation manhwas where the mc reincarnates into an adult novel or something and the cover usually says 19+)

Yeah, but I was replying to a comment that was saying it was a definitive 2 year difference which it wasn’t. The original question also wasn’t about that specific birthday and the general consensus of the age difference between Koreans and international ages. Not to mention, they technically will age to be a certain age in one year and the Korean age standards makes them one year older by what age they will be. So it’s technically still only being a year older for that year, and not two years older.(if we’re just taking ages by the year they were born and not the specific month)

I like characters that I can somehow relate to. And in these cases, I can relate to their loneliness.
rainbow city because idk it's something about the chemistry and the relationship buildup. Ima be honest, Im not the biggest fan of zombie apocalypse but I loved rainbossi cause instead of using zombies as a plot device for survival, it connects it to a much bigger part of the ice berg + futuristic elements with genetics/mutations and everything somehow despite having so many plot twists and turns, everything just clicks together in the end. The side characters r relevant and the main characters are written in such a way they seem generic but is actually the furthest from it.
I like bls that have a good plot where the love feels like a fun subplot. If they have long haired men even better. For some reason I can’t get into sci-fi/gaming/isekai bl. Ig I don’t like “clean” aesthetics if that makes sense. If the bl doesn’t have much of a plot though I’d prefer it to be a comedy.
i love everything as long as it’s not too cringe, doesn’t have any stupid pushover weak-ass mcs, no sa, rape, grooming, etc. i mean, who wouldn’t love a story with lovable characters? (characters who claim to 'love' their partner so much but still proceed to commit sa and rape are pure nonsense)
I forgot to mention it but yeah that’s why my favorite bl’s Sangyang:the wanderer. It focuses on the plot, it has fun side characters and there’s pretty long haired men. Also the aesthetic is more so gritty and gothic which I’m also a fan of. Basically I like it cuz it’s like a shounen but bl lmao.
For me, it’s gotta be Unsleep and Love In Orbit, although the reasons I like them are slightly different.
Love In Orbit has a very kind MC and the author has many panels showing the little things he does that highlights that trait. The MC’s emotions and trauma felt so realistic and in spite of it all he chooses to be kind in a way I don’t really see in other stories.
I love Unsleep because it’s so funny with a palpable underlying almost hidden sweetness to it, though the MC couldnt be more different than the one in Love In Orbit. The ML is the sweet one here and I love him so much. The MC from Love In Orbit and the ML from Unsleep have many panels of them being doting and attentive so that’s an odd coincidence.
it can range from sweet ones like Pink Heart Jam and Sonokoi Jihanki de Kaemasuka to deeper ones like Love Sick Dog and Stigmata. while there are more an example of my interest in chemistry, i love character focused stories and those that build on the relationship of the pair
