Frankly, crazy Franky should be worrying because of how psycho and powerful he is, but I just can't not love him. He's 120% devoted to his Master and won't let anyone harm him - I really love that about him. Also, psycho Frankenstien is hilarious. No one can quite infuriate an enemy like he can, much less kick their asses and laugh about it the whole time
I'm so invested in this story it's slightly worrying. Gone are the days where I wished for more healthy portayals of gay relationships because THIS RIGHT HERE IS EVERYTHING. I love both characters equally and they have such a charm about them. Lihuan is such a gentle, shy soul and it's so endearing. And Yuyang?? I absolutely adore how free-spirited and confident in himself he is. Their relationship is developing so smoothly and naturally and it's HEALTHY. No power imbalances, no manipulation, no forcing themselves on each other. They're growing feelings and they're growing them fast. They seem like two individuals who really compliment each other as a couple. I'm so excited to see how this all plays out.
(Side note: why is the author so damn cute?? I can't with these little cameos and notes)
Sorry, but I really can't read this manga anymore! It gets more and more frustrating the more it goes on! Why is Maya playing the victim? He lies and manipulates and makes Nemu feel like shit, and the only thing he regrets is getting found out? I'm so angry. Maya doesn't deserve Nemu, and why tf did Nemu just forgive him like that? "He got cooler" - no, he's still the same insensitive, selfish, niave child who can't see what it's like from anothers' perspective. I'm tired. I'm so, so tired. Their relationship is really unhealthy, and I actually really hope they break up soon. Perhaps they are made for each other or whatever, but that time isn't now. Maya needs to learn how to be a trustworthy, selfless and empathetic person, and Nemu needs to learn how to live and grow as an individual.
I don't think I'll be coming back to read any remaining chapter updates. I just get more saddened with every chapter. This relationship seems to take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. It's not going anywhere - Maya will continue lying and being selfish and not thinking of Nemu, and Nemu will continue being overly dependant and unsure of himself, and will get even more insecure as the days go by (and rightfully so).
Until I see some actual development, I'm going to take a break from this manga.
I want to make some other accounts to push the like button a few more times BC I WANT TO LIKE THIS MORE THAN ONCE. My feelings exactly... when first the Ruka appeared and it seemed he will be good then we all started to route for him I thought it will be okay... I still had some hope but now I just want to wait someone say it's a happy ending and then read it without waiting each chapter with angst. I like this story I didn't mind the angst before but this is just nope... I start to like Akira and Naoya story more >\<
I read the raws, and sadly it doesn't look like their relationship is going to evolve any time soon. I've been following this manga for a very long time and there's just a cycle of actions repeating over and over again. Maya does something wrong, Nemu feels insecure, Nemu cries and forgives Maya almost immediately. It's so repetitive that there's nothing new in their relationship. Nemu as a character has also undergone little evolution. He just comes across as heavily dependant on Maya and lacks in any noticeable characteristics (although he is majorly adorable and sweet). I want more for him. I want him to slowly learn how to be more confident, and that he's worth just as much as everyone else is. I want him to develop real interests and hobbies, and learn how to NOT TAKE SHIT FROM MAYA; that he doesn't so easily give into Maya's selfishness, and makes it clear to him what he expects from the relationship.
So far, their relationship doesn't feel very equal. Maya hasn't even told him he loves him once. I understand he may 'show it through his actions' but a relationship is built on mutual understanding and equal footing. If he can't tell him he loves him - just once - then is he even emotionally mature enough to be in a comitted relationship?
I detest the start of this manga (I just pretend it doesn't exist) but I am generally invested in all the characters. Unfortunately, if this repetitive and frankly tiring cycle of insecurity, selfishness, lack of communication, spinelessness and little story development carries on, I think I'm going to have to drop this manga, which I really, really don't want to do.
(Side note: I know we all kinda want to see another guy who's generally sweet come in and sweep Nemu off his feet to make Maya realise how much of a fuck-up he's being, but wouldn't it be nice to just see Nemu come into his own and realise he's strong as an individual? That he breaks off with Maya for awhile because their relationship is looking quite hopeless rn, especially with all the lying and rightful insecurity, and that Maya ends up realising how selfish and cruel he's being and tries to win Nemu back? I want him to really fight for his affections, and for Nemu to not just give in so quickly all the time. Make Maya work! Nemu is more than worth it. He doesn't deserve this)
this is what i always had in my mind!!!!
I completely agree. And the repetitive storyline seems so unnecessary, too - there are tons of other issues the manga could focus on (Nemu coming out to his mother, dealing with university life, show more of the side characters, Nemu finally being more confident and independent, etc.).
I hate to say it, but if the manga continues like this, it's losing its appeal to me.
I would absolutely love if this manga focused more on issues outside of their relationship. For example, Nemu's mother. His mother has been a huge controlling point in his life and I think that's why he seems to have no 'personality' outside of studying. It'd be nice to see Nemu truly come into his own and realise that he deserves things, and that he comes out to his mother with confidence in his own feelings (I'm hoping she loves him enough to just accept it, because he's such a sweetheart and deserves all the good things). I feel like this manga has been too focused on their relationship itself, and that wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't the same issues repeating again, never getting resolved. Maya needs a huge wake up call and Nemu deserves better, if I'm honest (and more character development).
When I read it, it was only the newer chapter and...
(SPOILER - incase others haven't read it)

It's so damn annoying that Nemu just gives in so easily to Maya's apology, and they're all happy as mill again. NO. Maya betrayed his trust, AGAIN. He keeps doing it! He needs to know why it's wrong, and why Nemu feels so insecure and anxious, and grow the f up! I'm so tired of his selfishness. I honestly feel like these characters need time a part to truly get a grasp on themselves before being in a relationship.
I am absolutely in awe with this entire story (and the promise of season 2!!). The writers put so much passion and thought into everything; the characters, the designs, the damn plot. I just... so many emotions. I felt anger, sadness, disgust, rage, passion, hope. I felt like I was living this life just as these boys were and honestly, that's incredible story-telling right there. To immerse your readers like that - such talent. I can tell this is going to become somewhat of a legendary read within the shounen-ai/yaoi world, and I hope many can support the artists by buying the chapters and the books!
Patiently waiting for decent mangas/manhwas that aren't polluted with rape tropes... I have no issues with those who have a rape kink, as this is fantasy and they are free to enjoy what they like, but it'd be nice to get some variety in yaoi where 99% of it isn't literally rape and abuse. I thought I got used to it, but this manhwa is rediculous. The characters are all twisted and messed up. There's barely any plot, just rape, manipulation, mental and physical abuse, hypocrisy, more rape, probable mental illness, even more rape, and oh yeah- more rape, all out of 'love', obviously.
I agree with you on the rape fantasy thing.
It really makes me uncomfortable for the characters and really hard image for me to break when it comes to liking them when they finally get together.
I also don’t like how hard it is to find a story that’s just about a simple way of falling in love.
I by no means am a prude when it comes to the rough sex topics but rough sex can be more than just rape. There are plenty of people having consensual rough sex right now. it’s not that hard to write about.
I wish I could like your comment 100 times. I honestly really disliked the majority of the characters in this, and could not even muster up a glimmer of happiness when they got their happy ending. The first seme was so abusive - if he showed at least a little bit of remorse then I would have been less hateful towards him. And the uke? Ahh it really annoys me when they write such spineless characters with not a shred of self-respect.
I mostly stick to shounen ai now because of this, but I've found some yaoi gems that thankfully contain no rape - but they're definitely few and far between. Bring on more healthy, consensual relationships! (and about the rough sex trope; I actually enjoy manga like that, but it's hard to find any where it isn't a forced situation and eventual stockholm syndrome. How unfortunate).
I’m glad someone agrees with me I feel like people often just tell me to get over it or to not ruin their “fun”. This comic is really troubling and I agree all the characters are too unlikabke at the beginning for me to be invested in their ending.
Yeah I’ve made the switch to Shounen Ai too because I wanted some humanity.
Any recommendations?
I feel like me and you would get along well.
I am so happy that you brought up how this manga/comic is labeled as "rape" very clearly. I think many people seek rape in Yaoi but then complain about it to maybe seem more morally right due to their own guilt. They should know many healthy individuals do have rape kinks, Fargo (the person who created this) did create a fantastic work about very messed up people, that is the point that people keep missing. Nowhere did Fargo mention this is a simple story about people falling in love. How boring would that be? She created this story for people who enjoy more darker stories and it's a gem in that respect, for a darker and twisted theme. Yaoi has so many different varieties, I honestly have read more Yaoi comics with zero rape.
I don't want to be misunderstood - I understand that this has a rape tag, and I was prepared because I'm somewhat used to rape tropes in yaoi right now. I didn't know how far the rape would be took however, that is what I have concern with. Also, I have absolutely nothing wrong with people who enjoy such a trope. Like I said, each person likes what they like. My issue is with the fact that the proportion of romanticised rape in yaoi far outweighs those without it, or those that portray it in a more realistic manner. I have read almost every yaoi without rape in it, and their volumes are nothing compared to those with rape. Is it really so much to ask for there to just be more healthy relationships? I understand it's just fantasy, and I have no trouble seperating it from reality, BUT it doesn't mean I can't have opinions and feelings and altogether it would just be nice if mangakas explored more realistic, healthy and communicative relationships. It might not be 'dramatic' enough for some readers, which I appreciate, but you can have drama and angst in yaoi without the abundance of romanticised rape. I am no more morally right than those who enjoy rape tropes. I personally just don't enjoy when it's chapter after chapter of rape where neither acknowledges it and the abuser gets off scott-free (personally). Again, not every yaoi is about messed up characters. Often they are very sweet etc. so I don't understand why there always has to be a seme raping the uke out of love in it. Sorry if this seems lengthy and confusing. I know there's variety, but there's not enough. That's my issue. 80% is rape, which there shouldn't be. There should be a healthy balance for people who enjoy it, and people who don't. Sorry if I offended anyone with my words!
I'm not sure what you'd enjoy, but there are a few really good shounen-ai that if you haven't read already, you should definitely check out to see if they're your taste :)
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/king_s_maker/ - although this is a darker story, it is so, so good. They're in the process of making/releasing the second season right now. Although it's more of a rounded story that doesn't solely focus on the MC and the guy he likes, it has a really satisfying ending and intense plot.
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/vassalord/ - this also has an interesting plot. Perhaps you've read it?
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/kokoro_kanda_neko/ - yaoi, but incredibly sweet.
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/heaven_hell_roman_company/ - I prefer the side couple in this, and it's unfortunely still on-going ( ̄へ ̄)
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/soul_contract/ - sadly not completed yet, but so far I'm really enjoying the plot.

^These are mostly fluff and uncomplete, but they're definitely good reads. Do you read manhwa/manhua/webtoons? They're mostly always shounen-ai, and unless you're strictly looking for it you'd be hard pressed to find any hardcore rape tropes in them. Also, I love being able to read about the cute couples in colour!
I have read far more Yaoi mangas (so so many) without rape, that also could be due to my choosing. I also have read many Yaoi mangas that had rape but it was not romanticized. The rape was shown in a manga that had no romance, just lust. Yaoi does have a lot of rape but I disagree that they are the most common ones. Another factor is that Yaoi mangas with rape are super popular and that’s what people tend to read, which is why I brought up the tags. 80% ? I disagree.
PREACH.
yup, you're right. it's lazy, pathetic writing (the art is cool so I'm not going to diss the author completely). that's why I couldn't finish this one even though I was so curious as to why so many other readers love it.
I want to start reading this but I am reallyyyy not a fan of action with romance. Is there a lot of romance in this?
Also does the mc get caught in some love interest storyline?
There's no romance so far. The MC is shipped with a lot of people, but nothing has happened yet. I think SIU, the author, has stated that there will be a love interest for the MC eventually, but we still don't really know for sure who it will be.
Romantic love is not a big theme here though. Either way, I highly recommend ToG.
