Guys please read the novel! It’s completed and it’s amazing!! The manhwa is doing a wonderful job at adapting it but the novel has more details and goes more in depth about their internal feelings and thought. The fan translations of the novel are really top notch as well :D So if you’re impatient like me, do give the novel a try

I don’t particularly have a go-to for novels either! I prefer just reading where the fan translation teams post and this site has a lot of nice ones!

Spoilers!!
The sister gets mixed up with communists and she brings some mystery guy back to their hospital and asks her to help her secretly harbor and take care of him(he’s injured). She agrees because she wants to pay the sister back for helping her out when she was not doing well financially(inviting her to work at the hospital). Blah blah, the mystery guy leaves his gun behind for maddy when it’s time for him to go. Then later on, some communist stuff happens, authorities are prompted to go search the Nottingham manor, and they find the gun with maddy’s belongings, because she hadn’t gone and got rid of it yet. The mystery guy is communist and kind of a criminal, so they take her as a corroborator, for having helped him at all. For the trial, Ian paid off corrupt judges and whatever, also got her the best lawyer there is, and she was instructed to say that the mystery guy was threatening her, and she didn’t willingly do anything. But it was against her conscience to lie. If she lied, the threatening/blackmailing would have been added to the mystery guys’ charges, and she didn’t want him to have a horrible sentence (he’s not really a bad guy, just did bad things, plus they kinda became friend-ish). So against the lawyers and Ian’s expectations, she told the truth, and admitted that she willing helped that guy. Even with all the people Ian bought out, she landed 6 months in jail with that confession. And when she got out she flew out of the country cuz she thought she had pretty much cut the ties with Ian, and anybody else there with her confession. Fresh start out of jail ig

idk about everyone else but i never said that she lost all personality or that it doesn’t align with her character lol. you’re right, i agree that the action does make sense for her character. i personally just called her dumb because she immediately left after her jail time was up. i haven't actually read the novel so i’m uncertain/don’t know the full context (just basing off of what i’ve read in that spoiler), but it seems dumb to me how she immediately thought that her connection to Ian and everyone else was cut off just because of that sentencing. she spent all that time with them and thinks that everything they all went through together could be severed that easily just because of a sentencing. they clearly already trust her and i would assume doubt that she was actually involved with the mysterious dude, so it is just baffling to me that she would just leave without (seemingly) talking to them before hand.
ofc i am a little mad by the fact that she made the decision to not just lie and say that she was threatened, but like you said, it makes sense for her character so i didn’t hold that against her too much lol. sorry for the long paragraph, i just wanted to clarify. ╥﹏╥
its ok <3 i was actually just a bit irked at her character being deemed “so stupid” as if she isnt a flawed character and some perfect ideal character that will never make a human mistake. The novel explains things in more depth in regards to her decisions and why she thinks the way she does and hopefully the manhwa adapts that well too!
this contains spoilers in case anyone’s curious!! if you dont wanna spoil, please dont read this
SO TWs first: lots of sexual coercion and harassment i would even say r*pe. just in general not really nice in terms of “romance”. So be warned!
General spoilers: yeah its that typical “he for some reason (the reason later being revealed to be something related to their past) hates her but it turns into obsession which then turns into love” and yes they do end up together and even have kids . There is a “redemption arc” i guess for the ML but its hard to acknowledge after all those atrocious acts lets be real . He not only sexually harasses her constantly and gets insanely obsessive about her but also ends up keeping her locked in out if his obsession yes she manages to get away but at what cost
they both are basically “enemies” in the sense that they work for opposing forces in the story, him being like a general or something and her being on team “rebels” except neither side is fully right and instead are corrupted and both FL and ML’s personalities and lives get twisted unknowingly as they grow up within their respective corrupted environments (yes believe it or not ML was normal as a kid ).
There are more detailed spoilers on novel updates in case anyone wants to read up even more there. And there is also translation of the novel which shouldnt be hard to find on google in case anyone’s curious or impatient :)
Unfortunately the only free site I knew of where I saw this novel was AzurCoven but that site has been shutdown for some reason. If you try googling “try begging novel” i think you should be able to find another website though I’m not sure whether the translations there are up to date or any good. The other option is to perhaps read it on the official ridibooks website through machine translation
I know what you meannn but i kept looking through the spoilers section and couldn’t find something specifically about him BUT (spoilers below)
From what I read, Grace (or Sally as her alias) was chosen to be the one who spies on the ML (Leon) is because her “comrades” in the rebel group never truly considered her as one of them bc of her actual family background and so considered her disposable hence why they sent her to spy because they didn’t care whether she died or got tortured as a spy if she were to be caught by the ML (and one thing I liked about the FL is that she got her revenge on these “comrades” as well when she found out the truth) and since her fiance is one of them and also someone who pushed her to be a spy, I can only assume he too considered her disposable and never really cared for her. The FL being used like this is something that runs parallel to a part of her original familial background dynamics so thats an interesting aspect as well.
This got officially picked up by webtoon recently! Please read there to support the aurhor, it’s free!
