Minato's feelings and actions are understandable. Since Omegaverse doesn't really exist in this world, we can't go and judge him based on our own world. Minato avoiding Jin was because he wanted Jin to be happy and what he believed Jin's happiness is: is to be with somebody else who would be able to start a family with Jin with a child. His intention was very pure and it was out of good will for the one he love.
We might not think that what he had done was the best and I can agree. He could have done differently like talking it out with Jin but it is not as easy as we think. Different people have different sensitivity and it have to depend on the mentality of that person.
Minato is a good character. He might not have done the best thing possible to ignore Jin but in his point of view, that was his best option to choose from at that time with his "defects" so that both Jin and him would not be hurt as much. All Minato wanted was for Jin to be happy and that is in no way Stupid or Idiotic about him. Let's all just try to see from his point of view and not insult any of the characters. <3

I don’t get why people are so upset about him screwing other guys though. Didn’t it say that this was after they had graduated and he had gone and got a job? It’s not like it was a day or week after the incident of him finding out. He shouldn’t have to suffer in his loneliness forever ┗( T﹏T )┛
