I love BDSM. Some mangas do go in depth to really explain bdsm and developed their characters through this. But most yaoi mangas use it as a sort of fetish. Authors add these elements in to spice up the story, without really exploring the context which is why the stories come across as such. 1 reply

Gonna be honest. I'm not bothered by it. In fact I love the stories that explore these taboo subjects. It excites me. It's an unspoken desire, which is never accepted in reality which is why we read fiction.
