You telling me his monstrous form is just black hair and darker skin I- dawg I found it adorable until it sounded so racist but oh well nothing too deep to read into

I got your point, but i think the author didnt mean it that way? The knight lived for 1000 years, live with the red curse, death mana that he himself said that it wrecked his own mentally. For sure the death mana (which oozing black aura/fog) has already latched to his skin. He is born with fair skin so Imagine something like a poison/unhealthy creeps up to your dna for that long time and changed his own being (skin/hair color, etc). Of course he's shocked, of course it take time to be comfortable in his own skin (which later potrayed how he was so comforted that the Mage help him realize that his new apperiance is also good). He maybe look like an undead/unhealthy because of the death mana/curse. Thats why the author give an open ending for his apperiance to the reader. Idk why everything has to be racist this racist that. It doeasnt even need to be compared? I think it's just because the story isn't long enough to explain that it could be missintrepeted.

It's little odd that you started with the fact you get the point and by the end of paragraph entirely dismissed it.
I just meant- from literal smut feral perspective- that I would have still liked it EVEN if he had turned into Shrek. Even if he had infused with his armour. No matter the amount of skin discoloration/darkening/deadening(?) it wouldn't be unsightly. It seemed beautiful. Even author's creative choice to not give access to his appearance and name was beautiful. It is fine.
But it is hit and miss on something so sensitive and relevant and often encrypted in our unconscious.
Author didn't go bold with what they did infact give access to us. what I made out of it was that his golden hair turned black and his skin is dark and he finds its unsightly and monstrous. Idk if I am putting my point across well or not but conclusion is if he had just looked slightly "ugly" not just "darker" I would not have thought of racism conversation at all.

Sorry if i sounded like that way, english isn't my 1st languange. I think i got your point( or i guess i did miss it) but okay... true smthng like this are hit or miss... indeed if it taken that way, that is why i said the story isn't long enough the explain thus it could be taken openly. But you got to remember that by the logic based on the supernatural AU stuff that the knight is born with the light skin and then gotten a long exposure from the curse (dead mana. His curse seeped into his skin kike necropsy)... i dont mean to be ignorant about this stuff (because this is a sensitive topic IRL)... but dead mana is unhealthy (by the logic of the story) and it probably does look scary IRL... I know black doesn't equal bad or scary, but he got it form the curse... his being changes. that's why the author can't even potray his 'face' even after he's heald. not because he changed to only dark colour and said it 'ugly'. Literally his beings changed because of the curse n stuff... he probably looks undead-y (again, because of the curses = dead mana)...
sorry to comment and bother you...

Goofy dialogues especially in first season I deadass thought it's gonna be comedy not smut. SERIOUSLY wondering did he actually kill his own brother? And ex? Like for real? If yes then something about it so eerie how he just kills and never bats an eye. How is his own father okay with it? Has it changed profession or not? Is he casually lying away to his husband about murder and profession?
Any recommendations for such plot (slow burn) smut action.
