I wanted to mention the author began conceiving this story about 8 years before it actually published. This kinda explains why it’s so dialogue heavy, there’s probably a whole lot she thought of and can’t wait to tell!

In comparison her previous work Haru no Noroi has less dialogue, it’s quick to show us what the story is about, and quick to grab the reader and make them sympathize with the older sister’s tragedy. I think she chose to have Haru no Noroi become her debut work, even though she came up with it later then Raise wa Tanin ga li, was because she didn’t want to fail at a story she took so long to research and craft. I see Haru no Noroi as something she chose to draw in order to practice for this story. This story is yakuza based so it’s important to create a proper atmosphere through her art if she wants to grab the reader’s attention. I think she made it work very well in Haru no Noroi, the expressions of the older sister, the backgrounds, the shape of the panels, the pacing of the story, all worked together to throw me into the story and make me feel anxiety and fear as I read.
With Raise ga Tanin ga li we’re only on chapter 3, and I am gladly expecting the author has more to tell and do! There’s still a mystery as to where this story will go, I assumed it’ll be a rom-com but it’s taking an interesting turn to introduce us to criminal family procedures and their intertwined relationships. I guess the author is taking her time to introduce us to their characters before something big will happen and shape the story. I really like the female lead, she’s somewhat docile but she’s not a pushover. She might not be smart but she’s clever. The male lead is charming but a total mystery. The “masochist” trait he possess seemed it was supposed to be for comedic effect, but when the female lead found out he’s not totally related to the grandfather, we got a taste of the fact that that trait could actually mean something deeper. I also wonder if his smiling face is a mask and there’s something deeper as to why he wears it or, is he actually smiling all the time because he finds the situations he’s in funny since he’s overly familiar with the dark world.

I got the info about the author making research for this story from her Pixiv account, where she first published almost something like concept work of Raise wa Tanin ga li. Also this was previously a reply but @EmeraldPrincess suggested I post this as a stand alone comment.
