I like that there is a love story between those two. First I thought it might be a bad idea, but now I'm glad it happens, because it really shows that someone can fall for a person for who he or she is - Pauliana is beautiful, she may not be that "feminine" like other women, she doesn't wear dresses or has long hair, there is no make over that makes the king suddenly fall for her. It's just her. And I think that's awesome.
I really loved the story so far, but in the last few chapters it tried way to hard to show one plot twist after another - it felt unnatural and then it felt rushed, like "let's make it a happy end for everyone even if it didn't make sense".
I don't know, the story was a 10, but especially the last 9-12 chapters turned it into a 8 and that's just sad ( ̄∇ ̄")
It also felt like the author of the story changed, it started so brillant and the end didn't really connect to the hints given in the first half of the story - does someone know more about the author and this work?
Yes the ending felt so rushed and it was just plot twists and sex scenes!! The story up until the last few chapters was beautifully drawn out and nothing felt forced or skipped over but it seems as if the author just wanted to finish the story and, I guess, provide fan service by enlarging James's tits and having him raped..
The story up until the end was a solid 10/10, but the ending was a 2/10. I was really looking forward to the ending and it had so much potential ):
Why do people care about who's uke and seme? It's like asking who's "the girl" and "the man", but they are both male so it doesn't really matter, or does it? ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Yeah, it matters bc switch couples (seke) are so rare in regular bl. Typicaly, uke/neko/catchers are receivers that have that stereotypical feminine outlook, submissive and emotional feel and the seme/tachi/pitchers are supposed to be all manly and dominant--even though both people have a penis, that fact always seems irrelevant for the uke bc they orgasm with their prostate. Ukes are always emasculated like that, it seems. Anyway, I'm not sure how it works with bara bl.
Omg exactly, just enjoy the story ffs
True, I think its sad that these roles are so strict but I mean, most readers are female so it seems kinda logical to have a 'female' uke. I think sekes are the most interesting couples, but it actually shouldn't matter so much :D
Hmm, I wonder. What would be the point of identifying with the uke? The female readers are already receivers irl. Aren't they more likely to identify with the top role?
Well it is something to think about.
uh yeah idk i think forcing the stereotype of bottoms always being feminine is kinda weird tbh. (obviously ik there are feminine bottoms irl but usually the ones in bl are written by women which gives me a weird vibe) i also dont see the need for female readers to relate to the bottom. like idk i dont think many readers actually self insert or whatever when they read bl. if anything i imagine pegging masc dudes rather than getting fucked by them but i digress.
Maybe it's a combination of wanting to have a strong partner but without having female burdens like getting pregnant or female stereotypes. So they can be "the woman" without being the woman?
It could be subconscious, but I don't know. But yes, it's kinda weird actually
