I went ahead and read the novel to about ch 56. Had to drop it because it’s so fucking sick. Guys, this ML is beyond toxic. He’s downright evil. There is no romance here, it’s straight up and abuse story. I couldn’t stomach it after a point and that was less than half of the novel. I won’t be going forward with the webtoon. It’s a pity because the art really is so unique and good.

If you want to know. ML is a sadist and r*pes, tortures, and blackmails FL to stay with him. He keeps her as his mistress as her status is too ‘low’ to marry her. And he doesn’t turn into a better person or have a redemption arc or anything. The FL hates him for almost the entire novel only to flip and love him for a few chapters in the end. Seemingly for no reason or she now has Stockholm Syndrome. Only character worth giving a damn about is Kyle Etman. Even the FL annoys me because Uncle Bill and Kyle are always there for her but she doesn’t confide to them about what’s going on. The whole thing is just frustrating.

I think she's the most layered and complex character. I'm glad that we are about to get some context on why she's so insecure. This webtoon is brilliant for showcasing how people's perception of others can affect that individual's personal development. Mirae's lack of confidence and self-doubt contrasts Kyungsuk's mom's initial confidence that everything will go well for her in life due to her good looks. And then there's SooAh whose story hasn't been fully disclosed yet but I feel she's obsessed with keeping up her image. People look at her and just assume that her life is perfect and she has come to be obsessed with maintaining that? The latest chapter also indicates some childhood trauma. Anyway, I am excited for future chapters. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

honestly, me. :/ it's not even the bdsm that gets me, it's the fact that this is getting so like... just really drawn out. I'm hearing that it gets better in spoilers but this inbetween is ridiculous. I thought this evil guy would be a side-plot stepping stone... but he's like the actual plot ?? Like what the fuck, even his backstory was just... shitty. The plot is bad. Period.
I really didn't care for him since day 1 of him showing up. But I understood that it gave us some relevant information on Jinha's backstory. It's seriously getting so long drawn out now. I can't continue if the series keeps focusing on a character that is so annoying and unlikeable.

But like he is only an asshole because some kids only liked him for his money in middle school ??
