Your parents don’t love you, boo-fucking-hoo. Nobody asked for her backstory, just because she has shit going on doesn’t mean she shits into other people’s happy lives. Those men would give their life for their little babygirl. The “unusual” Mi-ok is talking about isn’t applicable to Ho and Mr. Kwon, being negligent parents and being gay are two different things. If Mi-ok can’t understand that maybe it’s good she came back from university, because clearly education was doing her no good. Fuck her. I hope Mr Kwon and Ho stay happy together with their baby girl.

This manga is the compelling story of a deaf girl and how she navigates through her life and finds love along the way. Since the first chapter, we have been introduced to Yuki as a cheerful yet calm girl, in fact we don’t even get to know Yuki is deaf until the mangaka writes it down, this depicts how yuki is a completely functional and fully capable human being on her own. Yes, she has a disability that makes her slightly different from other people, however the point of this manga is to depict how everybody is different from each other and can still find love within and for each other. In this story, Yuki is aware of her deafness, she isn’t dumb or overly reliant on other people. Her parents have made her independent and strong enough to deal with the world, they always support all her decisions, like going to school, going to college, getting a job, etc. Even though Yuki is deaf, it isn’t the main reason as to why we, the audience, love her. It’s because of optimism, he strength and her passion for learning and exploring that we ultimately fall for her and so does Itsuomi- san, I look to Yuki in awe because what us “normal” people may consider a huge disadvantage in life, she handles with such grace. Not only her deafness but her perspective on life is so beautiful and hopeful, it just makes you root for her, and yourself. The first time I explicitly realized that Yuki’s “deafness” was seen as a disadvantage or an inconvenience was when the character of Oushi was introduced; he was fascinated by her deafness. More than Yuki, I see him noticing the way people react to sign language, he is more conscious about being different than Yuki is and I hate that. These past few chapters about him “changing” have been fun but completely unnecessary, they could have been bonus chapters. I saw a comment about Itsuomi being generic and I want to ask; SO WHAT? Why should Yuki settle for a guy like Oushi; who 1)heavily insecure 2) is constantly hellbent on trying to tell Yuki that not everyone looks at deaf people the way he does (like good job hero, want a gold star ?!) 3) highly immature and pulls on Yuki’s pigtails as way of showing her he likes her WTF ? Yuki, an independent young woman, who happens to be deaf, deserves her own happy ending. She deserves someone who will take her into consideration, who will consider her so important that they are willing to alter their lives to make space for her. Oushi or Itsuomi- san or any other guy never stood a chance with Yuki if they couldn’t do it right. LOOK at the way her family has raised her, with LOVE, RESPECT and ACCEPTANCE. Her brother broke up with his long term girlfriend because of her bigotry towards Yuki, her mom and dad are so used to hearing pitiful comments everyday yet never let it affect Yuki. SO if anyone thinks that an insecure, immature and frankly annoying character ever stood a chance with a girl like Yuki, WAKE UP ! WHY ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE DIFFERENT TO THE REST OF SOCIETY EXPECTED TO ‘SETTLE’ FOR STUPID ASS CHARACTERS LIKE OUSHI ?? Good on him for starting to figure shit out for himself, but DONT pity him, he has to develop into a better rounded human being, he has to love himself before even trying to love someone else let alone Yuki. I am sick of reading “she can fix me” or “I can fix him” tropes, ain’t nobody sorting out your shit but yourself. Yuki is NOT his manic pixie dream girl, I fucking hate those tropes where it’s like a sick character or a queer character or a disabled character have a romance interest who ‘begrudgingly’ tolerates them. People who are different deserve love, queer people, disabled people, people of color, people of different ethnicities, EVERYONE deserves a love like Itsuomi and Yuki; a kind and respectful love where difference is celebrated. Yuki never need Oushi to tell her that being different was OK, He need Yuki to tell him that being different was OK. IN CONCLUSION, Liking a deaf girl isn’t your personality Oushi, WAKE TF UP and actually do something with your life. Leave Yuki alone ffs. ANYWHOOO THANKYOU FOR COMING TO MY TEDTALK, IDK IF ANYONE MADE IT THIS FAR BUT LOVE U IF U DID, LETS HATE ON OUSHI TGTHR <3 (i dont actually hate him if that wasnt clear) Itsuomi san and Yuki-chan, I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK PLS STAY HAPPY ALWAYS <3
(P.s. I think the author/mangaka wanted to Oushi to represent all the people in the world who feel like being different is troublesome or weird but wbk which is why I found his character annoying like please go develop urself in another mnga or smthn why u gotta take up my girl yuki’s time yk)

I saw that comment about Itsuomi being generic and I completely disagree. If anything Oushi is the more generic one. Grumpy tsundere jerk who changes for the better? How many times have we heard that before? Tale as old as time.
Itsuomi is actually a rarity in shoujo for trying to befriend a guy who considers him a rival and tries to steal his girl. For showing compassion and understanding where other shoujo guys would be throwing fists or arguing. He’s actually very unique for a shoujo male lead because of how he handles himself. The fact he doesn’t act so territorial and jealous is something that makes him stand out.
I only fear that eventually the author is going to cave in because a lot of girls love their jealously tropes and think it’s hot. I love how calm he is and hope the author doesn’t think he needs to act aggressive and territorial.
I love Mori senpai and Yatora’s dynamic because she’s the one who made yatora realize how deep and soulful art is, I can see them respecting each other and getting inspired by each others work for years to come. However, I’m not really keen on a romantic involvement. I love Mori senpai’s character so far but I just love Yuka so so so much more, in my mind she’s the most interesting and well fleshed out character. Her friendship with Yatora is soooooo interesting, to me it would mean so much if the mangaka chooses to depict yatora and yuka’s relationship romantically. Why does Yatora have to be involved with his “first love” or “muse”, I’m just not here for Mori and Yatora romantically. The way Yuka can push Yatora and the way Yatora doesnt get Yuka but still respects her lifestyle and always admires her is so fun to read, please give me more of their budding relationship >///<
I agree 100%! Also it's pretty cliche, it'd be more meaningful in my opinion if Mori and Yatora stay just friends, even if Yatora doesn't end up with Yuka
I love them both too, they’ve helped him develop so much. Honestly I don’t want him to end up with anyone lol. Would much rather he just find himself thru his own art instead
HARD AGREE. Considering the mangaka has written BL/LGBT manga before, Yuka is confirmed lgbt and yatora is confirmed nothing I think its possible to see that relationship happen. I believe a mainstream manga in Jump+ rn is getting published with a crossdressing (not trans, afaik) male character and a cis male character relationship (I'm talking abt marriage toxin), not to mention there being more trans manga like boys run the riot getting published for longer recently, AND the BLATANT yatora/yuka in the drama.... really I think there's such a chance I'm not even falling for the mori-senpai bait especially since I have a feeling mori has always had mixed feelings on yatora
Same!
I agree with this too !! I just feel like if romance is going to be added to the mix I’d rather the mangaka explore yuta x yatora then going with the classic first love kinda trope yk
Exactly !! I can see them being long term friends who love to talk about art :)
I agree too, I feel like it would be a bit forced to make them get into a romantic relationship because both of them have similar goals but it's just not in their brains right now, like yaguchi wants to be an artist and he wants to put all his time and effort into painting but not into a romantic relationship because right now all he wants to focus on is what's in front of him not emotions that Branch out to other people so I feel like the blushing would be more like a o"h the senpai who taught me how to love art and about art and inspired me is asking me to do a collaboration this is insane oh my God oh my God oh my God" y'know?
Either way they go with this I do feel like this manga can go many ways and I'm definitely excited for more especially with the newest chapters and how they're going!
Yess !!! This is so true !! I kind of saw the blush and panicked because tbh I’d rather they just hint at romance rather then going in that direction because I love the manga as is, lots of slice of life hehe
