You know this is not supposed to be a debate about right or wrong; every character has had their own traumatic past and deals with it differently. It's about perspective. But all the vultures I see in the comment section aren't looking for philosophical meaning, no, they just want to actually see suffering. People actually persuaded themselves that whatever happens to the now "victims", they deserved it because of their precedent actions. This is bully mentality. "She hurt me so I can hurt her more". None of those characters are real, the only real psychos are you, feeding from the pain and despair of other beings, because you believe, in your own truth, that you are entitled to it. Vengeance is not a right. With that mentality, the only escape for victims is to become criminals themselves... Every one has hurt, and has been hurt, that doesn't mean you need to consciously continue.
Vengeance is not right, but vengeance is understandable. A character doesn't have to be right to tap into a very human feeling of "I would want to get payback, too, even if it's wrong, were I bullied relentlessly." This premise allows for a release of those feelings and an examination of them. How far can or should they go?
It would be a strange twist if it turned out this sordidness snapped both victim-torturer and torturer-victim out of whatever spiral of loathing and madness they were in. I mean, we're seeing some of that now.
In any case, were I relentlessly bullied by a person who I had considedred a trusted friend and had only shown kindness to...trust me, I'd want to beat the livign shit out of them and make them pay. Would I do it? Nope. I believe in going the legal route. I'd find a way to make them pay legally.
But here, we have the ability to ask ourselves: would you do what this kid is doing? And if I had been driven mad by betrayal and bully-torture, I just might have. In his shoes.
And does she deserve it? From his POV, yes. From a wider POV, we see she is totally damaged. And yet she became a demon to her friend and now her friend is a demon to her. The pathology transmits.
People read for all sorts of reasons. To release tension at injustice and to ponder what they'd do in a situation or for escape. Or just to take a side and root for their justice. And others, no doubt.
And maybe someone reading this just likes to see torture. CAn't do much about that.
Me, I want the evil punished. That means the people who set up this game and the people raping and the people bullying...and in the end, it will mean the people who become monsters (or are turned into them), will have to face their judgement.
I don't think the brother should have anything to say about how Lily wishes to live her own life... It puts me off that he thinks he can decide for her :/
It's a Japanese culture thing. Traditional gender roles aren't as frowned upon over there yet. And especially in medieval times the women were often the subservient ones being protected by the men and such. Like how women often weren't allowed to choose who they would marry, the father choosing a husband instead. I think this is kind of the same thing.

Totally agreed! Except if romance is your go then it might disappoint greatly but its awesome for RPG aspects and female lead!
