A few chapters earlier Heonjae said “I’ll deal with this myself” when he overheard that man saying Myeongil had a “lover”, though it was a misconception. I think Heonjae is trying to leer Jingi to death as he perceives him as a threat to achieving what he wants — since the confusion about Jingi being Myeongil’s “lover”.
I think a lot of readers get so caught up with the fact Heonjae says he’s repented, and his sweet personality they completely forget that he has amputated a man for not reciprocating his feelings, and you can see he has the exact same reaction to Myeongil he did with his teacher. Heonjae let Jingi go into that tent because he wants him dead, since his world is revolving around Myeongil and Jingi is a direct threat to achieving what he wants.
Heonjae also has stated several times he’s hyper focused on Myeongil’s body, and when going back many chapters, Heonjae went on and on about peeling back Meongil’s skin, seeing him bleed, etc. This guy, especially with the information about his teacher, clearly isn’t enthralled by the idea of Myeongil loving him, but mutilating him.
I don’t know if I’m reading too far into this, but I can’t imagine him behaving well out of prison. The only reason he hasn’t done this again in prison is because Jingi held him back, and he didn’t find himself currently enthralled by anyone. He isn’t a repeat offender because he hasn’t had the second chance to offend while being locked up for 9 years, but he will I guarantee it.

First off, I wrote this to summarize him as a character in case someone was a bit confused over the course of 60+ chapters, and I just wanted to get my thoughts out somewhere. I’d still be writing this regardless, saying as “outgoing” as Jingi too is so special since when has he ever been outgoing unless it’ll just benefit him? I don’t know what this reply of yours even means, your attempt to be snarky just make you sound stupid.

It wasn't an attempt to be snarky, I'm annoyed cos everyone rushes to attack heonjae cos he has a creepy personality, but Jingo just cos he's pitiful and outgoing (YES HE IS OUTGOING, he's friendly and extroverted. Dare I say he tends to be funny) people don't see him as a real perpetrator. I'm just saying, keep this same energy for jingi. I checked ur profile to make sure I wasn't being stupid and I see most your criticism is directed at heonjae and it's WEIRD. You aren't bothering to criticise jingis behavior even though you have no problem commenting about stuff you don't like and it's very obviously biased. please reevaluate yourself

It surely felt like an attempt to be snarky, and you still are. Let me tell you something, these are fictional characters, keyword fictional, this isn’t hurting anyone by being critical of a character who is meant to be criticized morally. I haven’t seen this supposed mass crowd of people you describe attack Heonjae, and even if there was this amorphous crowd, their criticism is warranted because he doesn’t just have a “creepy personality”, he nearly killed someone.
You say “keep the same energy with Jingi”, and I do, I just don’t feel the need to comment on him currently because there’s significantly less source material besides sex to be critical of. It’s not “weird” of me to be critical of Heonjae, because he is currently the most overbearing concern to Myeongil’s safety.
Your entire argument is so biased too, call me biased I don’t care, but I think one of us read this with our eyes closed and it isn’t me. You’re somewhat right about Jingi being kind in a sense, but the only example I could think of is teaching Myeongil how to write, though you describe him as some saint that built some sort of ark for Myeongil, which is just factually incorrect.
I don’t want to continue arguing with you over something that is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but get off your high horse.

No baby whatever helps YOU sleep at night! I said you're being biased and it's weird, cos you're a prime example of what's wrong in society and you say "noooooo but he's less evillll you're it reading itttt!!!" Girl did I not tell you that the less evil bs is what's wrong with your point? Idgaf who's more or less evil, they both pose immense threats to myeonggis safety, and jingi is the one with more power in the prison. When they get out, heonjae is the one that'll be more dangerous. He tried to kill jingi??? Girl we all know he's crazy, it's just when this first started and jingi was the immediate threat, why did you not go off on him?? I'll guess it has something to do with the likeable personality? So a perp isn't a perp if they're attractive and likeable? Get outttt being charming shouldn't blind you.
Ok side note I'm coming across as very mean, I'm blunt and it is mean yeah, sorry about that if you are willing to continue this thread I'll mind my tone . Also assumed a lot about you towards the end, don't really have an excuse but I've noticed the general stigma towards heonjae is his "creepy" personality which is very vexing, hence me being a keyboard warrior.

I feel like the actual storyline of this manhua is amazing. The author did an amazing job at length, things weren’t dragged on and everything happened for a reason. This manhua showcased the real effects of mental illness and childhood trauma / abuse in characters like Yoonbum and Sangwoo, and it wasn’t glorified either, or mentioned like it was something to be praised, rather very realistically. The subtlety of Yoonbums characters descent into the realities stalkholm syndrome was amazing, and I never got bored reading this. This is really a 10/10 manhua if you can stomach reading something like this.

I’m so conflicted about Heonjae. I know he’s a bad person, he’s done horrible things and hurt people, like in the chapter where it says he cut someone’s legs of + wanted to skin Meyonggi alive, and you can see him declining through the chapters as well but I can’t bring myself to hate him especially since he’s clearly ill, and mentally challenged to some degree. If the things of his past didn’t happen to him I think he’d be a real sweetheart, and I dwell on that, but he’s fucking scary too.
Never in my life have I had the misfortune of reading such a nonsense, garbage, creation of media. The world would be better without this, to put it bluntly. This adds nothing good to the climate of already bad manhwa, and quite frankly makes me want to stop engaging with literacy in its entirety. The art is horrific, the anatomy is a disgrace to artists who put work into their craft, I could go on, but I’ll spare it the criticism since it already has 2 stars which is far too generous. I hate it, and I’m sure the publisher must’ve as well.
