See I understand her dad now, and I have empathy for him, like he lost the love of his life and didn’t get closure. He never got to say goodbye. That can definitely mess someone up. He lived his entire life in grief ever since. Unable to face Elsa because of his guilt and the grief. But that definitely doesn’t excuse his negligence. He shouldn’t have allowed her to become mistreated, shouldn’t have ignored her, should never have married that bitch of a stepmother. I have empathy for him but at the same time I’m just like you were such an ass. I’m glad Elsa hasn’t forgiven him. But I’m also glad it doesn’t seem like she hates him. I like the attitude that she’s moved on from it and therefore doesn’t think of her father at all. Which is good to me, because that’s how he treated her.

Can someone spoil me on what happens with the family. Like does Penelope forgive Reynold and the Duke (idc about Derrick he can rot) for everything? Like being brainwashed? I only say this bc she wants family so desperately I hoped maybe she could forgive them and be a family with them. Though I’d also understand if she couldn’t, even if she did understand it was bc of brainwashing and stuff

Haven't read the novel but i did read the very end chapters of the side stories and it ends with this exact stuff. Spoilers for ending but just a bit
SPOILERS:
Basically towards the end, Penelope is given a chance to go back to her og world where she pretty much gets an apology from her og family and to stay but our girl just leaves them since she now has her own family. She seems to communicate with the duke and the others in this world so I'm guessing they're on good terms, the duke is even very protective of her. She mostly stays with her husband tho so yea she's on good terms with the fam, settles stuff with her old fam and is happy with her own fam.
3rd volume when
