so seems there will not be a love triangle, looking at the raws the teacher just happens to know both the old man and student (those two get together)
I don't want to be an agist but sometimes I can't help be unable rationalize being with someone 20 or more years older than you. Like that person has lived so much of their life already and had so many experiences, as well as been exposed to so many different things even before you were a twinkle in your father's eye so to speak. Like being from totally different generations is no joke when it comes to mindset and maturity so I can't help but consider that more so than the age difference itself, but it does play a part. I hope I don't sound bigoted in that explanation. I mean people can love whomever obviously.
honestly that's what I was thinking. I would feel the same regardless of the gender of the couple. The boy is 18/19 at most as he's still in highschool in a likely Japanese setting so he's not even an adult to make sense of getting sexually/romantically involved with a man 3x his age. Meanwhile that father-in-law is like you said 50 yrs or older depending on when he had his daughter and based on the teacher/son-in-law looking like he definitely in his 30s i'd say he's late 50s or mid 60s. You should know better. This is literature but you are right this is so predatory. Like the situation is completely inappropriate and how the son-in-law is either going to turn a bind eye or actually facilitate their coupling makes me so uncomfortable and discredits his role as a mentor and reasoning adult.
When I was reading the rest of the chapters, I felt that the teacher was against the relationship though. And the old man was against the crush the high school guy had on him too. But with the language of these chapters being in Korean which I don't understand at all, I can't be sure of my specialty is. But I am sure that at least the old man isn't trying to prey on the younger male character.
He seems fine enough. I just wanted to reassure op that their discomfort was right. If he does end up with the kid though, while he's in highschool (honestly if he's in college too in my opinion. you're still doing a lot of growing at that age and going through life expereinces that sort of bring you to a needed level of maturity) it's definitely predatory.
Yeah, in retrospect, I do agree with you. If this kind of age gap happens in a realistic relationship, I would raise eyebrows at the couple. I guess because this story is fictional so in my mind it just felt like a wistful fantasy story from a writer's mind. Idk how to describe my perspective about this. To sum it up, I don't get bother by the implication of predatory from the age gap in this story because to me, the author intended for the old man to be a good and caring person so I don't feel worry about this relationship. Because in my mind, how the story is is how the author intend it to be.
I really hope this gets an anime
