I think incest will probably not become an issue in the future, possibly even supported by government and stuff, similar to the acceptance of homosexuality in the sense that "love is love". It is a crude comparison, so do excuse me, but the "love is love" thing will probably override the views of people as it becomes more prevalent within society, to allow people not to be left out and such. Not that I support invest, and I probably never will, but morality is relative, and the generations just keep becoming more open to more possibilities
I get what you're saying, but they aren't really taboo for the same reasons. Incest is not so much a "view" as it is "if you reproduce with your brother, your baby will indefinitely come out severely deformed/disabled". Unless the nature of this science were somehow curbed, I don't think society would ever morally redeem potential parents (assuming the couple is capable of reproduction) who are knowingly at risk of permanently impairing their child's quality of life. It could also lead to serious defects in evolution if it were (though unlikely) normalized to such a degree that the government condoned it.
Fun history fact: it /was/ quite normal at some point, actually. Throughout history, aristocrats would marry within the family (usually via first cousins, or other relatives) in order to preserve their "pure" bloodline and maintain wealth. This method lost popularity because of several reasons, but the poor physical health of the offspring produced through such a union was definitely a deterrent.
I dont agree with you, most young people are really against incest and see it as something vile from the past. Tho there are still countries where is pretty normal to marry your cousin like niece and uncle (if they are of age) but ive noticed mostly young people being "disgusted" by it.
But in the end who knows
(also in my opinion its better not to compare it to homosexuality since so many people like to use it in negative way that its equally wrong :/)
Again, as I said before, morality is relative. If it's started to pop up and be more prevalent in places it wasn't in before, then I'd assume it'll increase....
Guh peeps! Moral of the story (aside from reading EVERY SINGLE WORD I TYPE because you wouldn't be arguing if you didn't skip and try to analyse this from my perspective):
1) The next generations will probably begin to accept incest a bit more. Just like how homosexuality used to be frowned upon and people would get ostracised and beaten to shit AND THEN eventually got accepted, people MIGHT accept invest in the future. I AM NOT SAYING that homosexuality= incest. I AM SAYING that they have been viewed in similar ways in the past.
2)Perspectives MIGHT change with the increased acceptance and use of the phrase "love is love". Incest may develop diseases, but so does smoking, eating raw chicken and etc. I AM NOT SAYING they are the same, I AM SAYING that people may try to overcome the issues surrounding incest by other means, or may ignore the consequences in general.
3) WHEN DID I SAY I WAS AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY???!
4) READ WHAT I SAID PROPERLY AND STOP TWISTING MY WORDS.
5) My capslock = emphasis on words so that I can make it easier for SOME people to understand. I'm not necessarily angry, but keep twisting my words and maybe I'll get angry.
6) Before assuming anything, ask me.
7) Stop being so sensitive about topics you're supposed to be endorsing (i.e. homosexuality), because being sensitive about such topics makes you seem like you aren't a firm supporter of homosexuality, quite the opposite actually.
Right! I'm just not sure that mentality will ever outnumber the current opinion that most people have towards it because of the consequences, unlike the way that peoples attitudes towards homosexuality eventually shifted. I know you're using it as a crude correlation; the only similarity between the two is the "love is love" thing- but in the case of gay marriage and whatnot, there's very little societal impact to their relationship, aside from perhaps a slight decrease in reproduction (which is a positive thing in most places).
And even with that in mind, many people (especially across the world) are /still/ apprehensive about adopting homosexuality as a normality in their society. In spite of there being so little consequences to doing so, aside from objective morality. I suppose incest is similar in the sense that the morality there is also subjective, but the blatant consequences more or less keep people away from it nowadays. But I'm sure if there were no birth defects or illnesses associated with it, it would be on par with homosexuality in terms of how people accept it.
Anyway, my intention here is not to be confrontational.. I'm really not 'disgusted' or 'offended' by your comment since I understand where you're coming from. It's not like you're trying to say that "incest is fine & we should all do it" or anything like that. Rather than argue, it's more like I want to reassure(?) you that incest isn't on par with homosexuality or anything else in terms of societal integration. It's kind of like pedophilia. Many (pedophiles) will assert that "love is love", or even compare it to homosexuality in an attempt to excuse their behavior, and that has *also* been a historical practice, but the developmental consequences that it has on children has kept it, thankfully, in the sewers.
Obviously you are not comparing homosexuality-incest in order to excuse incest, but I /have/ spoken with people who used the whole "love is love" thing to excuse questionable behavior (pedophilia, mostly) and it is... interesting. To say the least.
So.... is your cousin hot or what? ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

In the epilogue, at the car scene, I forgot all that hyunwoo had put Subin through and thought damn... Why isn't Subin with Hyunwoo? And its kinda heart wrenching, thinking about it all... But really hyung was the only one there for Subin.
But I guess my intuition just doesn't like the hyung-Subin pair...
I sense an actionless chapter coming
