I never really understood why having to be big and at the top is somehow equate to happiness. Yeah, it's nice to have dreams, but sometimes, you can also find happiness is simple things. MC clearly found his happiness in this small quiet town on the countryside while he was so miserable and stressed out to the point of losing his sense of taste when he was big, so seeing his old boss trying to tell him he was 'rotting away' and go back to that hellhole when clearly he was happy and healthy just feels annoying.
