This is my kind of yaoi— the angst, the intense sex, and a little bit of romance BUT not the tragedy. I saw the tragedy tag but I thought it was still a happy ending because Miki was waiting for Tatsumi outside of prison not knowing it was just Tatsumi’s… I feel empty, staring into space and rethinking why the hell I am hurting myself by reading this. I personally like that it started with Tatsumi pov. His character was twisted I didn’t know how I would feel about him, he has a soft side but is mostly evil. Their sexual relationship from the start couldn’t be considered bdsm, that was a half-assed attempt. That was purely sexual violence. I cried for Miki, he had suffered so much. When he decides to turn over a new leaf with Tatsumi, it all crumbles down with just one swift of Ryouma’s hand. I wonder why it's rated so low, it’s heart-wrenching which means the author was able to make the readers feel the characters emotions. I liked the story but not something I will read again.

Typical yaoi plot with a LOT of smut but— Yajima and Watabe’s domestic life did not bore me. Their obsession was not to the point that it suffocated each other, but it was in a healthy way that even made their relationship stronger. What I liked the most was even tho Yajima had always preferred older men, he did not pressure Watabe into doing his preference, he may occasionally try to do stuff to satisfy his preference, but Watabe consented to it. Def felt like I watched a Japanese old movie drama, the author successfully made it feel nostalgic through its art. The storyline was simple and no angst, just normal issues between lovers. I can understand why some prefer lieutenant Walter, he’s a good guy but it would've been too hard for him and Aoi if they ended up together, especially at that time, Aoi would be ostracized by his people. Takahiko might be a jerk, but his feelings are genuine, and it shows because after all those years of being separated from Aoi, he still went back. It’s a good read but the translation seems a bit off sometimes, more like there was a missing panel.

I’ve prolly read worse and more complicated BL mangas that after reading this, I didn’t feel the "deep" and "complex" comsec fujoshi were talking about. The art is immaculate, no doubt with that, it was realistically drawn, esp the smut scenes. Tho it was indeed dramatic and psychological due to the revenge twist, I felt like it wasn’t written well and the intensity of the storyline wasn’t seen in the dialogue. I can’t express the happiness and satisfaction I’m feeling rn at finally reading this. It’s like I was with them on their whole journey of boxing. I never doubted this was gonna be a good read when I read the summary and its age gap! Tho I kinda thought Kazuya was a jerk in volume one, I didn’t like that he couldn’t keep his hand off of Gaku, knowing the kid admires him, thank goodness their feelings are mutual. Ngl, having Yanai introduced in volume three (?) made the story more interesting. I hesitated to read this because of all the negative feedback in the comments. I thought it was gonna be toxic as hell and full of angst, but I probably expected too much because I wasn’t affected at all, which means the toxicity wasn’t well written to bring out negative emotions in me.
