Dropped at ch.1 feels like pedophilia & grooming

Got to the end of chapter 1 and see him a 17 year old at the time fell in love with a 9year old at the time. Definitely dropped. Although I don't care for age gaps I will still read if it's done right. But 17 & 9 Is basically pedophilia and grooming in my opinion.
