I think it’s definitely worth the read, if only for the art alone lol I mean, it is a rapist to lover’s trope, so keep that in mind, but this is one of the only things I’ve read where the gong actually realizes what he did was horrible, he only has himself to blame and he can’t expect anything, not even kindness, from the uke. I don’t know how the author will pull it together (I swear whenever I praise something they f it up the next day lol) but coupled with the Uke’s backstory, etc there’s a lot of room for nuance and subtext.
Okay. Guess I’ll wait for it to end. I don’t want to wait through every chapter when the actual redemption has just started.
My man, MY MAN, all of this bullsh*t could be avoided if literally anyone in this manhwa respected Yeonho enough to tell him even a smidge of the obvious plan young master has going on. Look I’m not saying young master is AS bad as his dad but he certainly ain’t good.
Dad is obvious about his treatment of Yeonho as his possession and son tries to act righteous while obviously viewing and treating Yeonho as beneath him. Classic choice between a turd sandwich and a douche.

Bro, bro, BRRROOO! Reading this novel, I realized that my fictional line doesn’t seem to be rape or imprisonment but fuck boys….And it just gets worse from there. I swear I was literally yelling at the book: “that’s classic f-boy behavior, don’t fall for it!” Spoiler- he fell for it….
All of the authors 188 novel’s follow a similar pattern but this is the only one I truly felt was a BE- it never felt like Shao Qun learned his lesson and poor Chengxiu just gave up after realizing every effort he made was futile. Crematorium novels work when the gong is scummy but devoted, the gong suffers and learns his lesson, there’s a comparable power balance between the two and the shou chooses to be the gong of his own free will- literally everyone of those conditions was not met. I had to keep putting it down because it was legitimately uncomfortable to read. The way it portrayed an abusive relationship based on unequal power imbalances was so accurate, from the way other’s treated him, to the way society viewed his relationship and his inner thoughts; it was just fucking bleak man.
I just finished the book and feel like I have to say something lol This is definitely not a wholesome story but it’s also not a story about a bunch of irredeemable trash who don’t care about hurting others- it’s just a story about people. People who are sometimes cowards, sometimes selfish, nobody is perfect and that’s one of the things fiction does best: tell other people’s stories. I can’t say Lim Jae-hee is ever a sympathetic protagonist but he’s strangely likeable in all his imperfection (and there’s character growth). If looking for “cheater revenge” you’re not going to be satisfied, but A tries to break up with B but is a coward held back by guilt, A and O break up after realizing who O is, B gets a new BF and breaks up with A ,and A+O don’t get back together until SPOILER (pregnancy) when there’s a bunch of drama and A comes clean to B. B beats the shit out of him multiple times but B doesn’t want his mother and sibling to suffer so eventually excepts it and everyone lives dysfunctionally ever after (he went to study abroad a year later but Jae-hee literally “checks up on him often because he wants to be a good step-dad to his ex boyfriend”). Though I think the ending is a little unrealistic, they also didn’t gloss over or just excuse the behavior- there was a lot of character growth and angst in between.

I was able to find the first book on booktoki but after that I had to buy the last two books on the google play store for like $1.50 (it starts chapter 6)- I had to translate it myself so it was tedious but I’ve read so many that my mind puts the MTL together lol (I would suggest the DeepL app just because it’s much more accurate but you can use google translate)

Tbh, any story that came with an NTR warning has never been wholesome in any form. Also if the author tried doing so, they'll get heat for it. I do like the realistic aspect bc there are irl stories of people who met two people at two different occassions fell in love dated and later foubd out they were related. Although its very rare for the two people to be parent and child but I have heard of such a story too. This world is weird AF. I have no problems with it expect sometimes when the A gets extremely defensive and keeps rationalizing and justifying his actions in his own head.

Yes, the Beta is the omega son, he got pregnant when he was a teen and the Beta was mostly raised by babysitters
"There's a character growth" but why should it come at the expense of hurting other people? Why should the beta be in charge of the alpha's learning experience and process of becoming? The beta was a kind and wholesome partner throughout their relationship. He doesn't deserve to go through all that just for those cheaters (of course his biological father, who barely took care of him as a child and never seems to be apologetic for what he's done is involved too) to learn and grow.

Because that’s life. Character growth usually doesn’t happen when everything’s rainbows and sunshine and lot of the time it comes at the expense of other people. I know for an absolute fact that there are many people I’ve inadvertently hurt because I was not my best person at the time and part of hurting them is what made me grow as a person- was it fair to them? No, but life is rarely fair; all we can do is acknowledge our bullshit and be better.
I’ve never carried on an affair, but I’ve definitely been a coward who stayed with someone way longer than I should have, because every time I meant to break up with them something would come up to rack my guilt- “oh, I can’t break up with them when mercury’s in retrograde! I’m not a monster!” Humans are flawed.
Have you read the book? I was going for minimal spoilers but the beta wasn’t a wholesome partner the whole time, he cheated and carried on a secret affair too. Sure A, did it first but two wrongs don’t make a right. And no the O was very apologetic. He was a 15 year old orphan who had been abandoned by the rich Chabeol who got him pregnant and had to work relentlessly to take care of him. By the time the O felt comfortable enough to pull back from work the damage to the relationship had already been done. He tried to repair it for years but B was an angsty teen who took the side of the father who wanted to abort him. Maybe it’s because I’m closer to O’s age than B but I was not very sympathetic to his mommy issues- you can forgive and have a relationship with the father who abandoned you, tried to forcibly abort you, and won’t acknowledge you as his child but not the teenage mom who worked tirelessly to take care of you and has been trying to have a repair the relationship for 10 years?
I don’t know, I personally find revenge really petty and immature but that’s just me. Just because someone is a villain in my story doesn’t mean that’s all they are- I would rather just get over it and get on with my life without them than let them rent free in my head. I have better shit to do

Everyone always only gave spoilers that were one sided so I developed a bad opnion and only since I was bored I keep on reading, but now I feel like I'm actually invested, none of them is perfect, they all make mistakes, no one is absolutely right like they made it seem before, this was actually a definitely a good story all along, with some deep themes, that was being seem as less just because of the cheating. You're absolutely right, character growth happens when things are shit, not when everything is okay and sometimes someone gets hurts in the process, it's not fair but it's is just life. The O was never really a shitty mom, just a teenage orphan who had no idea how to take care of a baby, trying to make a living so he his baby can’t be taken away. When he was young he had to do his residency, etc so B was with a Nanny and he visited on the weekends- it’s not ideal but it’s certainly not out of the norm. He kept in touch and eventually was able to get a job with better hours but by that point B was already an angsty preteen who hated him. He doesn’t know how to handle it so he just bends over backwards and follows B’s lead.
I might get shit for this but i found B’s character a little spoiled and immature. Like he literally told Jae-hee his mom was dead and said he lived alone, but he made sure to mention how cool his dad was…. That tried to abort him, and won’t acknowledge him as his child… He then changes his story and lies a bunch. On top of all this he’s constantly getting money from mom but shuts down all his attempts at communication. I would accept that behavior if he was like 15 but not 20; at 20 he should probably realize his mom was just an abandoned single mom trying his best, just like he can forgive his father.
By the end of it, A and B had both checked out of the relationship from a sexual/romantic aspect and really became each other’s friend and sense of security. I think because B had moved on and didn’t like Jae-hee anymore it was easier for him to accept, By the end A and B still talk as friends (though Jae-hee gets beat up/told off a lot-think siblings) and O’s relationship with B is much better. It’s about as happy of an ending as you could expect lol

lol I don't need to dig through a thousand layers of meaning to sympathize with these 2 cheaters in a pure smut manhwa. They cheat because they are horny, it is as simple as that. The B got cheated on, and given the cold shoulder by his boyfriend, he's the victim in the relationship, not the other way around. And I'd make sure to treat these cheaters the same way, even if it were a real-life event.

It’s completely fine to not like the story, I’m responding to the people twisting and giving false spoilers so they can keep their righteous anger going at the expense of the whole rest of the story. That does a disservice to the author and other readers.

Now it’s, of course, not fair to the person you hurt, nobody said it was, your victims do not owe you anything and they are well within their right to not forgive you but we’re not talking about them (this isn’t the B’s story, it’s the A’s), we’re talking about where you go from there. The B is a child because his single dad failed to respond adequately to his emotional needs. If the O dad really feels bad for his son, he would never go back to his son's ex-boyfriend plus cheating partner. They can try the co-parenting thing. Image the sister grow up and find out all her cheating parents, brother never want to come home due to being cheated on.
