But it does make sense, if you read the novel, arc 2 explains why Klopp became more sadistic and cruel. Aelock’s regression.

He is horrible. No suffering can pay for what he did, but he really did suffer. The books description of imprinting is really scary, it’s like inhaling poison, stabbing your body repeatedly, and the hallucinations it wasn’t just Aelock’s ghost that haunted him. Also the torment of an emptiness that no love or affection his children could fill, in aelock’s regression, the Klopp of that world explained that it isn’t enough to be with your partner… you cannot live without them… if anything happens, a part of you dies with your imprint partner, and it’s impossible to continue on without them.
