I'm at chapter 5 so super early but...it feels like the things they're making her anxious about have no real founding (〜￣△￣)〜 like her unknown engagement gets ended and she doesn't know about it and she's unhappy because decisions are being made for her so she want to keep it （￣へ￣）...which would've been an engagement she didn't even know about anyway. It's pretty dumb and I'd prefer to read something else unless it gets better (づ￣ ³￣)づ

From what I know part of the prophecy is he has to kill the woman he loves and ALLEGEDLY he knows this and also wants to protect him image/position so he never feeds in to it.
At the end basically the woman he's fake dating is due to get burned at the stake and Tite being crazy takes her place and John goes absolutely mental basically proving for the first time he loves her. Don't know if they reincarnate after that but that was an insane spoiler.
Also the girl he's dating thinks he loves her and not Tite but I think when he rushes cos he sees it's Tite burning and not his girlfriend a locket that has a lock of blonder hair and not her brown hair comes out ... So tea.

I don’t think he ever knew about the sacrifice he says so himself, and when they were going to sacrifice the brunette girl he was really against it. I think it was more because as he said, he could never give her what she wanted. Which was a family and stability. Well, she never said she wanted any of those things, but he said she deserved them. When they burn her at the stake, he didn’t know who they were burning. He was just against it because he thought it was useless sacrificing the brunette girl Because he didn’t actually love her. When he found out who it actually was he Started screaming.
Finally, yes, brunette girl thought she was the love of his life. And well curiosity killed the cat so when she went to check the locket, she saw a small picture that he drew of blonde girl and her hair.
Genuinely want him to just bonk this man around the head. He feels so slimy and uncomfortable. Genuinely villian behaviour - if he was fat, bald and old it'd be some traditional imprisonment power play.
I can pretty much see where this is going. Just think of all the taboo cliches and the plot seems to be heading in that direction. Like a Romeo * Juliet with the portrait of Dorian gray. A beautiful jaded narcissist with an observer of sorts. I'll probably keep reading to see how it ends but not worth starting if you were drawn by the cover imo.

Honestly reading this at 1-3am with Lana del Rey playing in the background was a top tier experience. I'd say none of this is romantic to me it feels more like codependency than anything with some lust added in but the fact they ended up together and (selfishly for me) there was no penetrative sex cheating in terms of "their roles" so I never got too upset. It was a tightrope of breaking each others limits. There both could be better people with different partners but the way the both of them highlight the others weakness is as toxic as all the fucking cigs they smoke. They'll love eachother until they get old and die. Alex will 100% be a silver fox and Mr graphic designer will always gain a little confidence before it crashes down. They're perfect together in the name of toxic infatuation. Who knows maybe they'll drive off a cliff together listening to song 7 off that album.
TLDR:
The kid that always got the trophy and the kid that was jealous of the kid that always got one end up together and all the jealousy, lust and infanticide blend in to a modern American perfect couple.
