Handsome friendly doctor and the evil illegal doctor were both protégés of dr wonbin (respected old doctor who was also taught by the ghost doc in his youth).
Old doc wants to reveal how broken the medical system in Korea is so him and his two protégés created these “tests” (basically terrorist attacks) to try and prove this. But handsome friendly doc feels too much guilt about this whole thing, hence why his character is pretty 180 from the beginning.
Also handsome friendly doctor’s brother was involved in a surgery that led to Mujin’s parent dying/ending up in a vegetative state (as a result of hospital higher ups fucking around) so he has a lot of guilt towards Mujin specifically as well.
God this was truly a masterpiece, I don't know what to feel now that it has ended. This made me reflect a lot and just wow. I hope the author is doing well and can make another like this
