OH GOD THIS STORY JUST MAKES ME MAD.
AAGHH.
Seeing everyone feeling the same in the comments relieved me soo muchh uughh i'm never re-reading this story it's just so aggravating.
I'm seeing lots of people insulting the seme in the comments saying "he hasn't changed" and "the uke is too good" so i felt like i had to explain this:
What happened is that when they were young, Kounosu (the seme) was in love with Imai (the uke), but Kounosu was going through a lot of things; His parents' divorce and him feeling lonely because of it because children who go through their parents' divorce really don't have it easy. That said, Konosou didn't know how to put his feelings into words, which is something that happens when a person is going through emotionally heavy times.
Imagine what Konosou's high school life was like:
His parents are constantly fighting and always leave him alone in his house and he's constantly worried and lonely, and suddenly, a boy, a really cute boy, appears in his life and is making him feel new things. He doesn't know what to do with these feelings because his head is already always anxious because of his family so he doesn't know what words to use to express his feelings for Imai. So he resorts to doing what BL has taught him: a physical relationship.
Now here are 3 important points to understand Kounosu's feelings for Imai in highschool:
• First, he saw the physical aspect of his relationship with Imai as them being closer than ever.
• But at the time, Kounosu only made Imai cum and feel pleasure. He wanted to make him feel good, but at the same time he wanred him to stay.
• And that one scene when Imai was going to leave and Kounosu stopped him and asked him to stay, Kounosu's facial expression is the most important thing, because we finally see him acting different than just smiling with no emotions.
Kounosu's feelings were that he was lonely. He was lonely and he craved being close with Imai. He was so busy being lonely and needing Imai in his life, that he didn't realise he was in love with him. And because he didn't understand his own feelings, he acted with Imai as if he didn't care about him.
And of course it's understandable that Imai didn't want to stay with someone who constantly hurts him because he can't process his own feelings.
That's for Kounosu.
Now For Imai.
Imai was also at fault. He liked Kounosu yet in highschool, he couldn't stand beside him when Kounosu needed someone the most, he couldn't understand that Kounosu was going through a hard time in his life and was too busy being sad that Kounosu didn't care about him as much as he cared about him, and that Kounosu couldn't give him the love story he wanted to have.
Both were at fault.
And that's why i think it was important for them to be apart from each others and meet again.
Because in that time apart, Kounosu was able to heal and re establish a good relationship with his parents. Which means he was able to have time to understand his own feelings better, realising that he was in love with Imai this whole time.
And Imai was able to realise that not everything has to happen like his own happy BL story.
Both of them underwent a BEAUTIFUL character development.
It's crazy because this story balances out the characters' past faults perfectly with that one very important scene where both Kounosu and Imai apologize.
I'm so intrigued by Yoshida-sensei's stories because they're so simple yet the characters are written with such depth that i doubt Yoshida-sensei has an innate talent with story telling.
I'm in love with all of Sensei's works. I could talk about them all day.
I hope this wasn't too long and that this makes it clear that both Kounosu and Imai were wrong, and both of them properly and honestly apologized after understanding their faults.

Agree! But, I would be happy to see a scene of what happened with kounosu after imai left. Imai clearly said what happened after he left Kounosu home, but, we only learn that Kounosu trying to find Imai on school reunion. I wanted to know a short phase of him to realise his feeling and his healing moment.
This story is so beautiful. It deserves to be longer and not rushed.

I also curious about Imai's transformation from the shy, naive Imai to shy, jaded Imai who almost give up on love (he stopped reading BL stories and I assume he is quite experienced in casual sex).

h&h was already an outstanding story but with Cradle Of Imae i cant WAIT for each chapter god the story is SOO interesting the character design is HIGH ASS CLASS and the storyline seems to be going towards something amazing. UUGHH I CANT WAITT

Hadifer is already doing the translations so there's no need for another one to take it. Plus, this was released a few years ago so it's understandable there'd already be plenty of chapters. best we can do is wait and besides, the uploads are pretty fast too~ ( ° u °)
