This is why I'm never ever having kids, dafuq with having the audacity to bring a kid into this world when you can't even sustain it for the rest of your life? that's your entire responsibility, ya wanted it and now you force it to fend for itself when it never asked to be here in the first place lol. Rant aside, I do understand that for a parent......   reply

clearly my summer child, you haven't read a single Bara which are works written for gay men by gay men-- 95% of those are dehumanizing as heck, much more brutal, more sexualized, and frankly just in to serve as as p*rn w/o plot; the only difference is that the character design are more masculine and bear-y and you can't say shizz about it coz oh, i......   2 reply

Gary stu leads-- it's such a big ick for me. Coincidentally, it was Mary Sues that ticked me off from reading shoujos before and now it's the same blend with BLs. I absolutely can't with characters who's given favor by the author for no good reason or even relevance to the plot, someone in which the plot literally shifts for, they're perfect in wha......   1 reply

I swear it happens so much, I started believing these authors are actually in a pact to make the vilest SA-themed work out there or there's some kind of agenda to shit on the BL genre by pumping out crap like those things. I'm a prolific reader of psychological works, I personally like them, but that's the thing, they are psychological, they are me......   reply

It's coz most of the time, it's either they write the FL as a damsel in distress or a Mary sue, which are so fricking frustrating and annoying to read. I love me some strong, complex FL in any genre but it's quite rare to find one that really hits my spot-- an FL that was written not as an indestructible all-purpose savior, nor a basic eye candy th......   reply

Genboxxy's question ( All 1 )

about question
Is it just me or is like 90% of BL pairing nowadays usually consists of older bottom x younger top? I really can't complain, I have favorite pairings that belong in this category, my only insignificant issue is it (sometimes) generate overly puppy-semes which can get pretty boring for me. I also understand that it's like retaliation to the former yaoi trend of the reverse coupling where it's the top who is older and has more power.

But really, it's starting to feel like the big-tit uke trend 2.0 wherein the authors are really just in it to emphasize the uke as replacements for the female readers, by that I mean, since the market for these works are usually women who are nearing their middle age, or maybe the author themself is one, they might've leaned more into this for relatability?

Again, nothing against this, I just like getting insights on trends. For instance that big-tit uke trend can be correlated to the body positivity movement at the time + that ahegao meme where busty hentai characters were subtly incorporated to jokes, so the marketing for publishing those works were effective for a while but not really for long. And yes, there are still beefy ukes nowadays but rarely do I see one with pecs that can be mistaken for milking tatas lol.

I genuinely like that more BL pairings are older, god knows how rampant ageism is in queer communities irl, so to create stories that treat this development as normal and beautiful is good in my books, I'm just wondering why the older one gotta be the bottom almost everytime?
