It's a good read, I was just ticked off in the earlier volume with the constant sexual harassment and then justifying it as okay coz the victim doesn't realize it anyway like wtf? it's a good thing it was acknowledged, though there wasn't really much reflection on it and the plot just made it okay again by having the top confirm that he wasn't bothered by it in the end (lol how convenient). Still a good read though, I like that they match each other's freak and I also like how the author made the ex-wife an actual character and not just a mob or caricature of an "evil" woman in yaoi, I really like how supportive they are of each other even if their marriage did not work.
Also this work really prepped me for that plot twist on the author's other work-- Work Love Balance coz the second ML there is like an updated version of the uke here, from the character design to the temperament and playboy lifestyle, it made me assume that he's really gunning for the seme in that story and he'll probably be a bott that looks like a top, same as this one, which is what's revealed on the latest chapter! (except the position part, he's still implied as a top based on his prev partners)
Really tried to like it coz the sides are enticing based on the socmed posts on my feed, but the main story is whacked and forgettable, lots of running away with lukewarm reasoning, even when the seme literally assures uke of his feelings and desires, the mf uke still runs away like crap; it's just chasing arcs over and over but with not enough heavy reason to make it satisfying; sure at the beginning it makes sense when the seme said there can never be more between them, but even that was suddenly overturned and he became whipped almost overnight + the uke even says that he was also using the seme himself so like the chasing arc just felt meh overall, and it's really bad that the author did it multiple times for almost always the same reasons lol. Not much development for either leads, but someone out there might still enjoy it, just not me.

It makes it more immersive and fun to see the bts of how they came up with the story, also the chibi versions of the characters are cute too + the artstyle's so scruffy but animated that I'm loving it altogether.
This was a really fun and fulfilling read, there was an action-packed plot that was pulled with enough chapters; very likeable characters, the villain's motive was kinda meh but I noticed a lot of villain's motives even in classic westerns are actually meh (it's either revenge for their dead wife or to settle some yo momma insult between drunkards) so this fits in quite well with that vibe. The pair's chemistry is off the charts too, I like how it transitioned throughout the plot, or maybe it's just coz I like daddy x twink trope myself? ehe. Hoping the author will do a sequel, but the ending's pretty great as is too.
Also for anyone craving another western BL, I'm here to tell you there's another good one out there I just can't for the life of me remember the title. The top's a blonde cowboy and the bottom's a native indian, there was a cringe panel there were the bottom called the top his "golden wolf" or lion or something hahahahah, but aside from that it's another solid read that's set in the old west. If any of ya'll know it, hit it up on this topic.
I couldn't understand much about the fuzz on him being an illegitimate child coz my guy looks like the male version of the mother just paler lol, but it's implied that it's actually the father who cheated and had him with another woman? but then the father also claims that he loves his wife? it doesn't make sense.
it's either they did surrogacy coz the mom's one of those weak-ass mothers that die at the start of the story, OR the uke was adopted from some mysterious relative that they have to keep as a secret for the ~plot
it's a different take for a BL, but that girl was really nice; her scenes were very brief but she came off as considerate and not pushy, she also had the integrity to be straightforward and ask directly what her chances are with the seme when they already spent a good amount of time with each other, and she still gracefully accepted it when she ultimately got turned down. If only the seme was not obsessed with the uke (and if he's at least bi), it's so easy to fall in love with her instead.
Uke in this work is meh, another one of those that some readers praise for being complex and relatable when all they are is just relatable to ya'll toxic ass-- if you find this trait realistic please do some introspection on yourself, this is just bleak and toxic af. Yes, he acknowledges his insecurity and he's reflective but he can't even communicate it properly and then just lashes out on the seme; it's not like it's the guy's fault that people simply like his work better wtf? this trait might work for a teenager, but for a grown ass adult? nah. Also he knows that the guy's in love with him and just decided to go with his advances on a whim even when he's not even sure of his feelings yet, and then had the audacity to say he hates him and runs away lol. I'll give a leeway that maybe it didn't work for me coz the translation's not the best, but out of all this author's works, this is surely one of the weakest by far.
THIS right here is what makes him a grapist-- their previous "interaction" had some level of consent, even if the uke didn't like it at first, he wanted to do it to further his cause nonetheless. In this recent one, both of them are out of their minds and completely spiteful of each other, the seme even did it as a power move (which is the usual motive for real life SA cases) and the uke completely and openly expressed his disdain for it too. It's a fine line but I like how the author executed the difference/shift between the two scenarios this season. I just hope that the author toned down the smut for this scene instead because it can come off as romanticization to some (which I do see).
This also amplifies my resolve to have the plot route continue where the uke kills himself to make the seme suffer instead of offing the seme himself. The fact alone that he's allowing him to be killed by the uke implies he doesn't value his life just as much anymore, killing him would really be pointless, but him having to suffer a life without the uke whom he himself declared that he would not let go-- that's sure to have a great impact on his overall stability.
for finally giving closure to this work. I really appreciate that the author allowed for it to continue even with a new artist and I honestly wouldn't have minded it if it's only the artstyle that changed (I've read works before where the artists shifted midway and it's still a-ok) however this one was just so off? Not including the art style, the pairing dynamic/chemistry is also off, the character's personality is there but it's like a lukerwarm version of the original, and even the plot pacing and tone of the dialogue/narration is so different as well, I agree with one commenter who said this is just like reading a fanfiction lol. I remember gobbling this up the first time I read it which is why I was broken hearted when I thought it will never be finished, but now that they actually did it, I lowkey wished they didn't instead. It was kinda hard to be invested into it, or maybe my preferences just changed since then, who knows?
I really tried to keep reading this coz the artstyle's so pretty but it's too bland- all the characters are bland and one-dimensional, plot is cliche which isn't necessarily bad (cliches could work if executed properly, but this one ain't it)-- sudden conflict, sudden resolution, sudden tension with the usual dash of assumptions and miscommunications. It's the usual problematic trope you'll find in the 90's-early 2000s yaois & shoujos, w/c is surprising since this was released in 2019 lol.
Is it just me or is like 90% of BL pairing nowadays usually consists of older bottom x younger top? I really can't complain, I have favorite pairings that belong in this category, my only insignificant issue is it (sometimes) generate overly puppy-semes which can get pretty boring for me. I also understand that it's like retaliation to the former y......
meh for me, uke has potential but seme is just bleak and toxic at the same time. Think gary stu but instead of having at least an ounce of likeability, the character dev went full throttle on just being despicable, possessive, and red flag, barely any development at all. Plot's also meh- the jinx basically started with some kind of blackmail from snotty brat seme when they were kids, then they grew up to hs which was when uke "liked" him back or something, uke got caught by seme's grandfather kissing seme, uke ran away, seme thought he was abandoned although their relationship wasn't actually established at that point. Years later, seme ruined a good match for uke coz he's a prick who wanted revenge, yada-yada couldn't finish it anymore, only made it past ch.40.
Apparently this one's ending was rushed because the author had health complications which I feel really sorry about, lots of creators are really into their work that their conditions do suffer for it. Though I sympathize on a personal level to the author and their struggle and I admit that I most probably won't be able to pull what they have done in this industry; as a reader, this work was not for me.

It's an awesome read and the length really hit the spot with how the author rolled out the story- the problems and resolutions weren't dragged on nor were they resolved magically, it's also great how the author handled the representation of someone who has trauma and severe mental health issue, there was a bit of angst but it was not romanticized at all and it wasn't made into the uke's entire personality either.
I also like the fact that tho they're very clingy and lovey-dovey, they actually do have other things that they're doing, normal careers that they perform outside of their significant others (I've read plenty where either the uke or seme is so reliant on the other that all they do is insist on hanging out almost exclusively. This uke literally has a codependency issue and yet he was able to maintain a functioning career, so what's their excuse? lol)
Another thing, this seme is such a green flag that I was a bit skeptical that he'd turn out to be a flat character who's just a goody two shoes or a manic pixie dream boy, but no, he actually has depth- I liked that part when he retaliated to the editor, and also the fact that he can be oblivious at times in his attempts to help the uke instead of automatically assuming everything correctly like he can absolutely read his mind all the time (which is unrealistic).
One thing that was a bit meh for me but still has some potential was those chaps about the editor and the newbie author. I really couldn't care less about that prick. If the main seme wasn't able to save the main uke on time, that editor would've committed murder, one that was painful because the victim suffered extensively for it, and worse, he doesn't even realize it, no accountability at all. That guy has some serious savior complex that needs actual therapy too. I do think the second uke likes him for real, but much like others in the comments, I'd like to see him (uke) break up with him too so he gets a taste of that codependency that he desperately tries to inflict on others.
If you can actually read this: thank you so much for picking up this work. I too, have 0 patience in reading ongoing works specially if I know there are already raws out there that I unfortunately also can't read hahah (yeah I can use translator apps but mangas with a lot of dialogues and panels can get quite frustrating to read quickly).
You did really well for a first time translator/typesetter. Thanks again for your service!
