thinkin' about them two kids... doin' it."
-Meredith in The Office. ML might be my age, but their genuine love-and-smash-into-oblivion love story makes me feel like a washed up hag watching through binoculars, giggling and munching popcorn. I feel no shame, tho. Just awe and envy and a bit of dopamine.
No real spoilers- It's like watching Jerry Springer. To possibly enjoy this, first remember that many humans are arrogant idiots. Then think of this as a nobility-setting-story of two arrogant idiots with chronic resting bitch face (especially ML) who fell in love. Instead of setting their egos aside for a sec, they literally both force each other to have sex while pretending to hate each other and not want it. They're seriously just too prideful and stupid to admit anything or give any trust. They deserve each other and definitely gotta be soulmates with "restrain and hate bang" being their version of flirting.
The leads are clearly young, inexperienced, selfish, hormonal, prideful, and surrounded by nobles with nothing else to do but come up with convoluted schemes against other nobles. It's like how if you read a bunch of Greek myths, you'll be like "wow, I guess when you have everything, you get bored and stir shit up". Zeus is the worst ML to ever exist. Sorry, anyway~
There were a million easier ways various things could go, but gorgeous wealthy royalty (with stuff like magic to boot) can do stuff like take a vacation in another country to avoid rape charges. Maybe keep your woman locked up in luxury for weeks of dubious rape-play and emotional mind games. You know, for funsies. Then demand marriage. Genius plan.
This can be amusing, but it's not everyone's preference. I half read it from morbid curiosity... and half read because the ML is hot beyond all reason. The art is only a little different from the usual, but his eyes wreck me. There's no logic in it.
The king of jealousy, false assumptions, and using violent SA to punish and 'claim'... he... acted like a 2m tall green flag?!
I expected things to turn into a nightmare between these two. For once, he immediately understood, even without her explaining first, and also felt personal guilt for the situation? Comforted her heartache? He's directing his anger at the actual culprit that took advantage of her situation at the expense of her pain?? Lux?? Our Lux?? Usually it'd have him going insane just by misunderstanding that she could consider any degree of it with others. Then, you know, massive SA before he allows her to clear up his misunderstanding.
There are so many men IRL that I've personally known and witnessed talking about being furious if their girl 'let' a person assault them, whether through violence, threat, blackmail, slipping substances, etc. It's "she should have been more careful" or some bull. A lot of eastern cultures are constantly going "too defenseless" and such over tiny things like a chick alone in a room with a guy (even at work, wtf is up with that?). That's the Lux I expected. At least Lux would do the cliche of tons of contact "overwriting" or "erasing" the other person's "traces". Y'all know what I mean.
This 2D fictional LITERAL SEX DEMON was so understanding of what she did and why. He feels bad for the initial position she was in, the choice she felt she had to make, the terrible things she experienced, guilt she went through that for him, recognized that love and effort from her, comforted her gently without blame or jealousy or greed, and is quietly directing his rage at the real perpetrator.
GOOD FOR YOU, LUX! THANK YOU FOR DOING RIGHT FOR ONCE, GOOD FOR YOU, DUDE! KEEP IT UP!
but this man is next level! If even I'm getting too disturbed, this yandere is YANDERE. Boi, ain't you supposed to be smart?? Can't you realize with your looks, you've done more than enough to keep her glued to your side with like, 5 minutes of pretending to be nice? This is going from the dark romance genre to the crime thriller genre.
That sweet boy better not be dead. Did the author write this while giggling "I'll name a good dude Victimo and make his entire life tragic AF". He didn't do anything wrong! He was barely beginning to have hope and enjoy his life. If he's dead, I will be unhealthy levels of angry on Victimo's behalf. But really?! Victimo?? Innocent but dying miserably? He better end up being okay.
Murderina. Ninjio. Soldieron. Princey. Queena (tbf, there's regina sooo). Kingo. Wizarden. Killua (tbf, love him). Felina. Butlerion. Blondina (ayo, yk then yk). Ugh. I can't think of anything that feels as blatant and unpleasant as naming a sad casualty "Victimo".
Dude was hot AF, too.
Mikhail literally had his body forcibly hijacked by a chunk of a magical being... a dragon so strong it's basically a god. Not only could he not control what the dragon was making his body do, but it didn't even give him the memories of what he did. He'd just snap out of it and go "omg there's bodies, I killed again" and would sob in guilt and fear. The dude is a victim. It's kinda traumatizing to have your body used as a puppet to literally kill people without your knowledge. I'd be full on insane.
ALSO anyone paying attention should notice that Mikhail only went after the paladins, usually after they recognize and try to attack him first. There's only one time he technically attacks first- he was surprised to see a paladin and the dragon basically went "shoot, no, eliminate before they can attack".
All the obvious signs are there. He had zero control or desire on a personal level to hurt those people y'all are upset about. His body is is being taken over, blacking out, and being ridden by a magic being that really hates paladins. To be fair- the paladins are constantly trying to kill him, too, the second they know who he is. I'd start to hate any group of people trying to kill me, too.
Anyway, I read 81 chapters, and Mikhail is actually the nicest and smartest of the whole story. Everyone, and yes the paladins too, are so murder happy and NO ONE seems to know how to talk for 10 seconds instead of trying to stab each other because "but I'm team blue and you're team red". There's one braincell in the story, and Mikhail's usually hogging it.
For example: someone has no weapon entering a battle. They're freaking out because they're unarmed. What do they do? Instead of running away while on their horse, they just jump off the horse almost right in front of a group of armed enemies. Seriously. They do NOT pick up weapons from the surrounding wounded and dead soldiers.. they kick a soldier in the shin, tripping them. Then close their eyes and wait to die when a second person attacks. This is one tiny part of the story. But that shockingly dumb behavior? That's how almost all of them act... all the time. The twists just kept making less and less sense and there seemed like bizarre unnecessary drama from a dozen different directions, plot holes get so common you stop trying to keep up, etc etc. It felt like it devolved into a weird fever dream.
Anyway thank you for coming to my TED talk, byyye.
It's mostly simply the hero's reaction towards her. In the 'novel' (short), you get a few chapters of his perspective... and since childhood, he has been an ice-cold robot that cuts anything down that he finds annoying, which is... almost anything. He had never shown any degree of warmth, attraction, or kindness, so FL is viewed as some weird novelty pet at first. You know how sometimes you're attracted to someone but can't put your finger on it? For him, it's the only time he ever felt anything like that. The party is stunned that ML is acting like a polite human being to someone... and not just anyone... to some random broke, weak chick. This harmless little tag-along also does tiny things that make her mildly amusing (for example, that one magic staff looks different to each person, so the group finds it bizarre that it shows itself as pretty to her). Again, most importantly, they realize ML's irritable, frozen, murder-happy self is acting like a puppy on a leash because he's finally discovered human attraction and connection. He clings to it. It's convenient to all of them, of course, but they're also not about to tell him he can't keep her around... and they sure don't wanna lose the strongest dude on the planet.
Anyway. They hate women lying about curses because they're trying to abuse kindness to potentially baby-trap a rich, famous, beautiful demi-god dude. FL had her own reason, but 1) her curse was real 2) it was an actual S grade which is crazy 3) she wasn't trying to trap him to her with a baby or marriage 4) she legit just wanted to ask, not strong-arm like some obvious people 5) she still tried to accept nightly torture just to avoid bothering him 6) she eventually confessed and apologized despite theoretically being able to just not mention it until his power eventually cleared the curse. And, of course, the attraction and feelings were real on both sides, so theoretically the curse had little effect on ML pursuing FL, who would've been wild for the guy regardless.
Oh, and I mean, even if I thought the plot was irredeemable... they are HOT. Just hot. Wow.
Thanks for the extra info, you made the scene more bearable- is there any info on why the FL was also murder happy on the wizard test?
Lol, you mean beating those monsters like she had gone nuts? It's because that was the type of monster that gave her the curse, so now she just really hates them.
Oh I see, didn't realise they had the same name; Thanks lol
