(my english is a work in progress, i hope that you can understand) for what I understand it, Edward is sick cause he was treating the disease/curse of Cliff with his own energy of mana, and that consume so much of him to the that point. And the white trash apparently is who gave to him the power of the hero and have some kind of obsession for Cliff? I don't now either

I think it has something to do with the order and how it was formed, but that should be explained in the next chapters

Base on what I understand, I think Ed's ancestor is the one who make that white trash but I guess it got messy cause' they couldn't control it and it also has it's own consciousness too.. Not to mention it need a suitable vessel(human body) to inherit the white power and the white thing is obsessed with Cliff.. But so far, I don't exactly understand why Ed is the only one who could cure Cliff.. (My theory) Maybe, because Ed has inherited his ancestor power who make the white thing so he could dispel(?) or fight back(?) (I don't know the word) the white thing.. I actually really stressed out by the cliffhanger!! I am very close to understanding the whole thing!! （￣へ￣）

Lol I guess we had a similar theory then... but from wut I remembered was the Ed’s ancestor was obsessed and naïve for wanting to cure everyone bc her white trash power was to heal people mentally or emotionally some how and so she made the white trash thing physically appear and that’s what’s in cliff???? Also bc it’s something that is not apart of the magic any more, witch the order uses dose that explain why it’s so OP and can/did defeat the demon king???

So the my next question is WHY THE FUCK IS EDS BRO NOT TELLING ED SHIT ABOUT WHAT HE KNOWS AND MAKING ED RUN CIRCLES TO FIGURE IT OUT?!?!?!?

I guess it's bc his bro is planning all those things thoroughly and Ed is one of the important card to him so everything need to progress smoothly.. And his bro is a snake whos scheming so it's not really weird why he doesn't explain anything to Ed cause' he need to know everything step by step..
