A plot like this is what the author chose because this is the plot that has a major impact. The plot focuses on tragic events which is what the author displays because it makes the readers feel pitiful, fear and compassion for the longing of happiness for the protagonist, and whatever the ending, is left with an affirmation of human values, which prevents feeling of despair.
