A plot like this is what the author chose because this is the plot that has a major impact. The plot focuses on tragic events which is what the author displays because it makes the readers feel pitiful, fear and compassion for the longing of happiness for the protagonist, and whatever the ending, is left with an affirmation of human values, which prevents feeling of despair. There is a development though, the author NEVER said the point of this manhwa was to be happy we’re just seeing a downfall of the main character, just because it’s not developing in a positive way doesn’t mean it’s not developing at all. The development is slow and its a downfall more then a road toward happiness is all, the rape scenes aren’t romanticized in anyway and the goal clearly doesn’t seem to be to arouse the reader
