So I wasn’t expecting anything out of this story. The cover didn’t wow me, there was no description, and I thought I was just gonna have another baby FL story to add to the long list with the others. Despite this, I checked it out as I usually do out of boredom. And it’s safe to say I REALLY enjoy this story. It stands out due to calling out ridiculous tropes in multiple regression/transmigration into a kid stories. It’s cute and I love the family dynamics and portrayal of different personalities in the characters.
Now I’ll get into detail of the exact parts I enjoy which does include enjoyable spoilers if you haven’t read:

So FL becomes a baby after dying in her past life. The story actually makes her a baby with no ability to talk, walk, etc. She can’t speak at all and is like a normal baby. She can only speak as she actually grows up naturally. She decides at one point to not speak even when she’s technically able to speak some words cause she feels embarrassed about her pronunciation as a toddler. But even when she does finally choose to speak for the first few times, she makes sure to say a few words, as well as her pronunciation isn’t fluent. She pointed out exactly how odd it would be for a baby to suddenly speak fluently. Another instance is when she makes a new recipe no one has ever heard of, she chooses to come up with a simple recipe with already existing tools and known ingredients. She knows she’d be called a genius and doesn’t want to stand out like that if she did more (like in all those other stories). There’s a plot point that gets revealed where she realized she transmigrated into a story. And she realizes the FL and ML and acknowledges she already made changes to the story before she realized and it may be possible that the FL and ML don’t meet, and then goes on to be like “oh well! Maybe it’s better that way. Happier without the drama of that.” She doesn’t give af about bringing the main characters together lol.
Onto the family dynamics, not what you’d expect from another concubine and the emperor. Not all concubines in the harem is malicious. And the emperor is not completely cold and neglectful. He’s portrayed in a very human-like way that has suffered loss many times with both wife and children. This gives him reason for why he may have been distant in the beginning but quickly opens up once shown a new perspective. This isn’t even all the points that I enjoy but I can only fit so much lmao.
Now onto the tragic mess in the recent chapters:

Tragedy of course befalls them, with I can only assume is the doing of the only villains already shown in the story. It was obvious. There’s only one group in the palace that wants an opportunity to take out all rivals. My thing is, as someone who has watched tragic shows, I don’t believe someone’s dead unless their dying moment and face is shown on screen. Any death said to be off screen has potential to be alive. Maybe that’s just my delulu talking cause I can’t accept it. But I’m also holding onto the hope that this one single spoiler is true:

That the crown prince is alive and is just in hiding. Relayed by a comment on b&TO. That’s literally the only info said. It’s not confirmed by any spoiler thread and the commenter also said that they saw the spoiler from tt- which is not a reliable source at all. So don’t be 100% sure about this “spoiler” but I can only hope it’s true.
So I haven’t read this in a long time. And I’m not hating on this manhwa, I can see why people have complaints. Now imma say my observation on why this manhwa lost its popularity and how it could’ve been better.
The plot starts out with a mystery, tragedy, and actual problem. FL goes back in time, and the reader believes her goal is to save her family so they will be looking forward to how that plays out. The issue is that the story gets sidetracked too much. Although I find it enjoyable seeing the sweet and funny moments of family and friends, hardly any progress is made to finding clues at least on how to prevent the future tragedy. Along with the fact that it takes too long for her to grow up. The thing is, this could’ve been a feel-good story revolving around FL growing up, enjoying love, and readers would’ve loved it because they’d think the plot is just watching her daily life. But because the very first chapter included an issue to resolve, the readers are focused on that instead of being able to enjoy it.
Also the fact that this manhwa started in 2018 and is STILL ongoing. Almost 7 years. I feel like the average romance/family manhwa goes on for 2-3 years, any longer and most readers get bored.

Ngl this is the reason multiple love interests makes the whole story a mess. There’s so many readers on diff sides. Like fiancé is the so-called most normal so a portion of readers wants him to be ML most because normal = green flag. Some want the blondie to be ML because even when he’s crazy they like the relationship dynamic. And some don’t like the ML cause he goes from green flag to crazy. I guess it just depends on personal preference. If you want an average green flag, obsessive red flag, or a green flag to red switch.
Then there’s talk about the artist or author wanting to change the ML?? Which honestly irritates me the most. Cause just stay true to the novel. What’s the point of making an adaptation if you’re not gonna stick to it? You might as well slap on “fan fiction” and make your own plot based off the novel. And if it’s the author wanting to change the ML, why didn’t they write the new ML as the ML of the novel in the first place?? Luckily I’m not a novel reader, cause I can imagine how mad those who actually liked the ML would be if they find out the ML is changed in the manhwa. I also would hate it if the reason for the change was only to cater to the readers wants of their fave ML. That’s the worst part when an author gotta change their story cause whiny readers don’t get what they wanted.

Ngl it’s annoying that people throw the word toxic and red flag onto anything they remotely dislike. It’s funny cause I’ve seen several stories where it’s the bottom/MC who has a traumatic backstory, is abused, isn’t mentally okay, and tends to be really dependent on the first person to show them kindness- but everyone always defends them no matter what. But have a top/ML be the one to have such issues, people’s first thing to do is blame him for everything, call him a red flag, etc.
They were teenagers both young and immature. It makes sense why doha couldn’t handle it and everyone agrees that they understand why he left. However they can’t understand the other teen who’s been abused and became dependent on the person who showed him kindness+affection. No consideration for bad mental health, and just straight up calling him insane. I’d say nothing he did are considered red flags except for the very last part where he intentionally let himself get beat by his father. But that also falls into the category of self-harm once a person believes there’s no other hope left.

Anyways they’re grown now and matured more. Though siwoon clearly still struggles mentally. Even in current time, it’s not a red flag to be upset at someone who left you. Naturally a bunch of people, no matter the misunderstanding, if they’re hurt by someone they cared for and that person appears in their life again, wanting to be together with them again after they were the one to leave you first, who wouldn’t be upset??? I don’t blame doha since he was just a teen. But let’s not forget that it was doha who approached and chased after siwoon even after siwoon told him to go away, found out his abuse, knew he got dependent on him, and then chose to end things. It’s not just siwoon’s own fault alone. Chasing after someone who you can’t handle is never a good idea.

The thing is I feel like there’s an addition that wasn’t necessary? It involves the blondie that ML used to be in a relationship with + the black haired crazy dude that sounds like he sponsors blondie. Idk if the author plans or planned to add more to the story or if they just randomly put them in there. They added backstory to the black haired sponsor when it had no relevance to the main couple.
Since it’s untranslated I’m not too sure about the exact relationship and timeline. It looks like ML was in a relationship with blondie, whom is a childhood friend. They seemed to be in a loving relationship until ML caught blondie fcking with the black haired sponsor. ML also knew about MC stalking him since the beginning, since 7 years ago. The thing I’m confused about is if he was in a relationship with blondie during that time or was that after he found out blondie cheated? Cause it looks like ML also gained an interest in MC over time and let him stalk him, etc.
So I only read some parts ahead of the manhwa, from the novel. And it’s true that it does take a while for them to do it for the first time. But once they do, it’s like the sex is non-stop lmao. It’s basically like ML turned into a sex addict that needs to do it every week on a certain day. (Not my fave trope ngl since it feels like it’s a chore to have sex at that point). (It’s like when I read the novel of Lucia and they did that trope). It’s also not the most fun to be reading sex scenes in the novel because it gets repetitive and the way that the author repeats things is funny. You don’t even know how much I got sick of the word “ferocious” being used in a single sex scene like 5 times.
I HOPE it will be much better in the manhwa since adapting actions from novel to drawings is usually better since in manhwa, you won’t have to describe every little action and just show it.

The FL has long black hair (middle part?) and the ML has long white hair. They look similar to that one manhwa where the ML is a villain.
The plot is something like the FL is actually a shadow entity that went against the rules and possessed the body of a girl who was dying. FL takes over her body and meets the brother who notices that FL isn’t actually his sister. FL also does odd things since she’s unaware of how the human world is like. ML seemed to get flustered around her.

It’s been a while since I read this so I don’t exactly remember the main story. Al I remember was that they both were messy and I can’t even tell when they were in an official relationship to see if they were just cheating on each other or if they were just friends with benefits majority of the story so it doesn’t matter either way.
The flaw is obviously the writing. I feel like issues were brushed over. But seeing as this is the same author of Lack of Love, this author seems to have a reoccurring thing of not writing resolutions well at all. Often brushing over actual resolutions of communication and just jumping into make up sex scenes. That’s something that happened in Lack of Love and here.

Now moving onto the Special Episodes (not season 2 which some may mistakenly think). I honestly did not think it was necessary at all and rather than focusing on the MC and ML’s happy lives after the happy ending of the main story, the author decided to throw in new rivals and issues the entire time. The blonde homewrecker was not a likable character at all despite the author wanting to portray him as an abused and miserable character. How does abused as a child = future homewrecker even make sense? Has no relevance to his character and no genuine reason for why he is how he is. It just felt like the author added that onto him to make him pitiful and not be fully hated as a dude who tried to homewreck the entire time. The dude didn’t even have the guts to apologize to anyone.
Now moving onto such “cheating allegations” that people claim. No cheating was done in the special episodes. MC never cheated on ML with that student, ML literally said it was his nightmare. It was only a dream that ML had. Now the kiss that happened between the ML and the homewrecker was due to the job. They were required to do that for theme of playing lovers. Though I personally wasn’t happy about it, I also do think it’s odd of the photographer to ask them to do that. It’s one thing if it’s the job of an actor or a music artist who usually acts in their music videos, that’s normal to play lovers with someone else in their line of work. But a model?? I have never seen any model required to actually kiss their coworker. I’ve seen intimate photo shoots where they pose with tension between models or pretending to look like lovers, but never actual lips touching. If they do need to kiss for a photo, usually I’d see them fake it and make it look like they’re kissing at an angle.
I guess the best thing ML should have done was tell MC what he needed to do and that it required him to kiss instead of simply just saying he’s doing a photo shoot representing homosexuality. But since MC saw the photos either way and wasn’t really upset over it all’s well that ends well.
Do people just take a glance and not even bother to look until the very end?? People complaining about him originally being blonde when he literally stays having his dark hair and dark skin. The appearance where he’s blonde is temporary and not something he can go back to being
So ppl hate the ML but according to the raws it looks like it’s true that MC was the one to abandon and hurt the ML in the past, hence why ML wants revenge. Though MC has his own reasons for why he did that (apparently those who know Korean spoiled he was blackmailed to do that cause of that girl who had a crush on him), ML doesn’t know that info. It should’ve been obvious MC did something wrong because he literally says so and blames himself, but ppl assume it’s nothing due to other misunderstandings they read from other manhwas. So it’s also no wonder that MC showing back up into ML’s life like nothing happened and wanting to start something again, is icky especially when MC won’t tell ML the truth of what happened back then. It’s like imagine your crush kissed you, led you on, dumped you for someone else and left you, then showed back up in your life acting like nothing happened and wants to be your fwb.
Honestly if the roles were reversed and the ML was the main character/bottom, ppl would’ve probably been hating on doha. But because doha is the main character/bottom, they assume he’s in the right and ML is just being over dramatic, over what they assume to be a misunderstanding. Seeing the raws, ML’s character to me is actually like those easy tops who would forgive the bottom no matter what and still love him. ML throughout the story doesn’t actually do anything for his revenge and just enjoys their current relationship, he’s basically whipped for MC. If ML were the MC then they’d probably think he’s a doormat for doha lmao.
Oh and the brown haired dude that has a crush on MC, is not 2nd ML material. He hardly does anything as well lol. I don’t even remember him making any advances until the very end where it’s barely an actual confession since he just gives up by helping them be together. He has his own pairing with the dude that likes him anyway ig, so it’s cool lol.
