Judging from the spoilers and scenes I’ve seen in future chapters, it looks like everyone is bad in their own way, including mc (maybe not the new student, I didn’t see much info on him).
The “friend” that mc has a crush on, really is terrible. He really doesn’t look like he considered mc as a friend. He’s violent and quick to hit mc as well. He bullies and physically abuses his crush (the new student). But then suddenly he wants to be nice to his crush. What pissed me off is when the new kid called mc out to say something (maybe confess? According to what was said in a spoiler), and the friend ran into the room and only SAW MC AND THE NEW KID STANDING IN THE SAME ROOM DOING NOTHING- and got ANGRY and punched MC, then dragged the new kid away.
MC himself doesn’t seem like a nice person. Instead of genuinely feeling bad for the new kid getting bullied, he seems jealous and angry and seems to put on a nice act in front of the new kid, and helps him out a bit. But it doesn’t look like he actually cares.
According to one spoiler, mc and ml both do something bad to the friend and new kid.
ML also does his own fair share of bad things.

Honestly I can’t say anyone deserves a better pair except the new kid who didn’t seem to do anything. Anyways, I’ve read plenty of red flag stories and it’s rare when nearly everyone isn’t a good person. I think that’s pretty entertaining though and gives some depth to the mc
