ML is the prime description of a manipulative, destructive, and crazy. I can't believe he thinks it's all right to flat out torment the woman he "loves" in order to reach his end goals. The majority of his deceptive practices against the FL would have been moot had he gone to her and said their first meeting, while argumentative, made him drawn to her and wanted to marry her. Instead this Crazy ML went about his proposal in the most threatening and manipulative way. ML thinks his cousin, the Crown Prince, is crazy he should definitely take a long look in the mirror. A very long look.
I applaud FL for her elaborate plan for running away. And being able to stay hidden for as long as she did against her battle with her crazy husband. I do wish that her miscarriage hadn't been real and she escaped not only for her peace of mind but to remove her child from their father's manipulative influence.
That poor happy family got all messed up once the ML set eyes upon them. He is scum!! SCUM!! SCUMMM!!
I got that off my chest!! Can't wait for season 3! (ง ° ل °)ง
Kaelus -- it's always the quiet beautiful ones that become the beast of the sheets. But I don't hear Hestia complaining too much.
Diana -- I think she has lost her divine healing powers because she no longer was using them as they were intended when she was gifted them. Her abilities were to help the poor and unfortunate people, but, it appears, leading up to her marriage and afterwards she only used them on the nobility. Hence why her powers diminished and then disappeared; she stopped helping those she prayed for the ability to help.
I know this is the author's story, but, to me, the revenge plot would have been a lot better if FL was set to return to her home country as a business rival and not just under the guise of a fake noble who happens to be the prince's lover. I think it would have slapped harder towards her ex and in-laws to see her returning super wealthy AND as the prince's lover.
The MC isn't a true necromancer; he's a swordsman with ability steals. I've read up to chapter 80 and he's used his "necromancer" abilities one time for a short weak moment. In the beginning, I didn't mind him learning some sword arts to protect himself as his necromancer abilities grew, but that's all he's done is sword arts. I don't mind authors giving a new spin to old ideas, but the fundamental skill of the Necromancer class is summoning. A necromancer is a dark mage of the summoner class!! A necromancer summons others [the dead] to protect, defend, and fight on their behalf!! Yes, the MC absorbs souls, but it's supposed to increase and develop their horde not sword!! The author should have just left the necromancy out if they were only going to focus on swordsmanship. I feel cheated by this fake necromancer story!! ☹☹
That's your opinion that you're entitled to have. That's also your preference too. Just like I like more traditional necromancer stories with a slight spin on the genre, but adhering to the basics of a dark mage whose summons are the undead. While I have plenty of sword art stories on my reading list, I don't have as many Necromancer stories. This is more sword than necromancy. ( ̄へ ̄)
Sorry I was being rude, you replied nicely. For me personally, since I don't enjoy necromancer stories (the whole having them fight in place of the MC gets boring for me) they really stick out to me, tho you're right there's probably more sword skill stories. But you can't refute that solo leveler is still the biggest manhwa that everyone enjoys; and ofc I didn't like it as much( ̄□ ̄||)
Honestly, I've only read the first few chapters of Solo Leveling and never saw the anime adaptation. So I can't dpeak on how big it is, since in my reading/fan circle the biggest manhwas are the Holy Trinity: ORV, S-Classes, and Trash of Count's Family.
Back to necromancy. I have this Japanese manga on my reading list that combines both swords and necromancy: Necromancer’s Evolutionary Traits. It's not too drab (??), but if you're interested in it, I think it's a good read with balance. However, it all boils down to personal tastes. I have another one on my list too that combines necromancy with swords, but I will admit, for me, it does drag some: Reincarnation of the Murim Clan's Former Ranker. Once again, your taste may differ.
Ohh surprising, it's the most lauded manhwa and it's necromancer as well! I think you'll enjoy it, I beleive the anime that came out is also pretty solid.
Hm the thing about japanese manga is that I have to be in a specific mood to be able to consume them especially cuz their art is so detailed, plus I like to enjoy them on a bigger screen which is why I choose the easy entertainment, which can be enjoyed on my little phone screen: Manhwas and Manhuas.
Also Murim lore often gets boring for me too I often just enjoy the Cheat skills stories the most, can't get enough. I do have me some occasional murim as well.
Thanks. I may have to resume looking at Solo Leveling. The only other cheat story I know about is one you've probably watched: Isekai de Cheat Skill...(crazy long title) . The anime wasn't too bad and what I read of the manga was okay too. Unfortunately, looking at my list I don't have many cheat skills stories to recommend unless you count entering a game world or going back in time.
The Japanese one is in color and is written like a regular SK manhwa, so not too much finite details in the drawings. Murim manhwas & Chinese cultivators/jianghu manhuas are my refuge when I get tired of the dramas on my reading list. Plus I enjoy the historical (although definitely not accurate) settings in a lot of them. But they do drag and sometimes get really boring.
I agree that the use of “necromancer” isn’t properly used in this case, but I like how the author did their own spin on it. It’s nice to see something different. There are too many copies of solo leveling already. And, technically he is a necromancer because he can summon the dead, he just doesn’t use it lmao. Maybe in the future we will get to see the him use his actual summoning more.
I agree, the term "necromancer" is a bit too far fetched and the MC mainly just controls souls of monsters and people that he has killed and turn them into either stats(+skills) or his shield, and not minions. So he's more befitting of the title of "Soul Absorber" or something like that in my opinion. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Honestly I enjoyed it regardless and thought it was a fresh approach. But I can see why you would feel cheated when u came here wanting to see the usual necromancer and their summons but got a dark attribute swordsman instead.
I guess you could say that the MC's creativity is "Boundless" when it comes to utilizing his "Necromancer" job skills.
If only Dawoon had spoken to someone he trusted when he first started having symptoms of auditory hallucinations. And if only his parents had been more concerned instead of apathetic towards his sudden change in grades and personality that could have gotten their son help before he fell further into psychotic outbursts. They were so worried about the stigma of having a mental illness and the effects on their son's future and their family that brought about his destruction (and the family) by not getting him treated sooner. I felt bad for everyone in this story, but especially me, because I kept waiting for the boyfriend to turn into a red flag and do something crazy, but he was a green flag all along.
I think Raven prefers abusive interactions and doesn't want anyone to care for him due to losses in his life. He believes he's cursed and it extends to those who get too close to him. Speculation: I think his bird half is extremely protective of Raven and probably only rouses when Raven is knocking at Death's door or in real mortal danger. Kinda like a split personality.
