I was entranced with the deepness of the BL's plot, so unusual there is a story with a complex action theme, and the main couple _happens to be_ gay, not the whole plot circling around the fact that they are and how they could be together.
Anyhow, I really liked knowing the author's wanted a 'trascending love', not just a cute/steamy BL (not that I dont love them, but I think the genre could use some diversity and additional substance, which this one excels at giving).
I understand what you mean this really brings a new refreshing vibe to BL.
