Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for manga which makes me feel like I'm doing something productive for once or one that'll suck my boredom right out of me. Something engaging and meaningful is what I'm looking for. I'm grateful for any suggestions.

If you do I suggest you read The Hunter Wants to Live Quietly's novel, it's really captivating. I started by reading the manhwa then I switched to the novel and its really good

Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (great story, great art, interesting plot)
Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri (the mystery element keeps you engaged and guessing, very fun, there's an anime adaptation if you're interested)
Monster (incredible story overall, this one also has an anime adaptation if you're interested)

Something I've observed in a lot of manga is that assholes get away with pulling all kinds of shit. The author gives them a backstory and that makes everyone sympathise and erases all the damage that they've caused,No matter how big. Sometimes I wonder if it's a reflection of japanese society expecting people to be like saints without any kind of negative emotions.

I agree, no back story is good enough to erase the damage a character has done. I dont care if you were treat like shit from the beginning of your existance, you out of everyone should know not to treat someone like shit. Especially if the character being given shit didnt do anything but be in the place and breathe. Thats your issue not theres.
Anyway i will comfoet the poor boy but only if the author tries to make the character have some sort of developement.
Manhwa does it too, it sucks, and everyone eats it up because ML is hot
It’s better to have a backstory rather than having none at all and making them one dimensional. You don’t have to sympathize with them but atleast it explains why they are the way they are now. The author is just fleshing out a character

They didn’t specify what manga genre they were talking about so I just thought of those demons from demon slayer lol. To what op said, I don’t think it’s a reflection on jp society, people in general are more forgiving towards hot people (like how certain male kpop idols still have stans even when they’ve done heinous shit)

Eren is a very complex character. I'm talking about badly fleshed out characters who have only done bad shit and the mc just keeps tolerating them or keeps forgiving them no matter the nature of the crime. I think some authors do it just to portray the mc as a saint.
Are we talking about BL? Well then they wouldn’t end up together if the mc doesn’t forgive him and that would just make an unsatisfactory conclusion to the story. Who wants to read a BL where the characters don’t end up together? Of course the author is gonna make mc forgive him

I've been looking for a certain manga since forever. It's a little hazy but I think it's a side story in a manga. The uke is bullied by the seme because the seme likes him and the uke knows. The uke thinks that the seme is cute so he doesn't say anything. Then one day a transfer student came and scolded the seme for his pranks/beat him up ( i don't really remember) and the uke gets pissed off at the transfer student for interfering. I would really appreciate it if someone helps me find this.

This manga has been stuck in my head for a while and I can't remember its name. It is a side story where the seme bullies the uke because he likes him and the uke knows the reason for the bullying and he likes it too then suddenly a transfer student tries to stand up for the uke and reprimands the seme but gets his ass handed to him by the uke instead. I hope someone remembers the name of this manga.
