I usually don’t side with incest but I really do feel for the brother/emperor. Yes, he (and the servant who ordered the mc’s death) messed up in his first life but being cursed with remembrance of all his previous lives is eternal torture. (Especially for the servant whose loved ones are all cursed to always die around him.) AND he admitted that he’s regretted his actions so much. He went through so many other lives wasting away with his crippling obsession, waiting for the Mc to be born just to be cut loose in the end. I think the author did a very good way of tying up this ending but I wish he got a little more closure.

I mean I have some sympathy for him once they said everyone around him whom he loved will always be fated to die. That’s gotta be awful to experience. Think about his actions from his perspective tho. If people don’t have a king, it’ll be anarchy and he said the emperor was one of the best so the ennuch was doing his job to make sure the king stays on track leading the kingdom. Yes he was a little extreme going and killing the Mc, but does he deserve an eternity of reincarnation with memories intact, cursed to watch his loved ones die?

Derek made a good move approaching the conversation with the story of his sister. When talking to someone that unstable, they can practically be unpredictable. By starting with a childhood memory to relate to Uriel’s anxious child-like mindset, he can gently talk to Uriel to get the answers he wants rather than blatantly asking and being met with Uriel ignoring him again. It’s a small step but one that’s sure to take them far. I can’t wait for the good communication era!!

After reading the current chapter, chapter 16’s scene of Derek being taken into the water holds a lot more weight now. Originally I thought it was Uriel showing Derek the ocean but now there’s insight on what really happened- Uriel couldn’t bare to be without him and drowned him.
My heart hurts for Uriel :(

You can feel bad for a character whilst not liking their actions. My heart hurts for the Uriel who is desperately attached to Derek, drawing him for who knows how many years, never forgetting about him and still living in the past- not for the Uriel who grapes Derek’s reincarnate and manipulates and confines him into staying.

This got under my skin DEEP. The way Wujin is slowly seeping into Haewon by undermining his confidence and takes away his control in their interactions is just insane He's chipping away at him until Haewon becomes dependent on him.
Ive been analyzing this first season for the past week and I just can’t get it out of my head. THIS is a book that deserves the psychological tag.
