This author is so good with time-period appropriate gay love stories omg got me thinking Gene died from the AIDS epidemic. I'm so happy they found each other again. I was also so touched by how they handled Gene's existential crises, validated his longing for his family and his need to make something of himself. Trevor is such a good partner—he loves Gene enough to understand that he deserves to see past New York, or his little Amish town, even if that meant Trevor couldn't have him in his life. As a gay person, this is the stories I appreciate the most.
