I'm so annoyed.
Originally her trauma is supposed to be something Runaan persists and works at like the strong, but traumatised person she is, with Raon in a safe way.
This scene is supposed to be more about Raon being able to trust and rely on a teammate and friend in a real combat situation. You know the way an assassin can't!
It's such a disservice to both characters, because you get a Raon that didn't care enough to offer to help her with what he knows she's going through AND drags her into a combat situation (he wouldn't do that, too much of a risk and variable) as well as a Runaan who comes across much less positively and is stripped of the capability and teamwork she actually shows in this scene.
I get that different mediums have to make concessions for the story to still work, but this isn't it.

Isn't the whole premise that she's the only trained architect left? Where the heck did the antagonist dude with terrible facial hair get one then?
Suddenly he's just like I'll have my architect look at it and teach people. If that's the case the entire premise sort of collapses, not that she's actually done much at all to do with architecture anyway I guess

Still trying to figure out the gender of the emperor the TL keeps swapping.
As angry as I am at the Crown Prince I have to say he was also a child raised in a birdcage to be useless and non threatening to the nobles in order to preserve his life just like his sister. The only difference is that she has 7 years of hindsight as well as an imperial education in alchemy and possibly politics. I'm really unsurprised he was used and actually impressed that they needed to brainwash him honestly.
I know way back when they were kids he was flagged as a terrible character but there have been sooo many comments that he's better than the ML.
My guy sees her as an object unapologetically. Who knows if he'd be physically violent against her later but for sure he's already emotionally abusive to her.
I absolutely hate Sion's choice right now! For him it won't be long until he's back, but he clearly hasn't thought about how Laila will be affected by his death. He must also know that she hates this jackass.
I do feel weird that I'm more able to forgive him for repeatedly murdering her than I am for this choice though.this comic has done weird things to my brain I swear
