I want to start reading Berserk but got confused by looking at the chapters. Is it supposed to be chapter 290 after 33?

First of all, why did he die?? He was just playing a vr game and went back in time like why? Then I thought that he maybe would get stuck in the vr game but no it's just him playing a game. What's the point of reading this?
Every time I click on chapter 16 it just loads and nothing happens, and when I click next chapter it takes me to chapter 17 before the remake. I'm so confused
I'm hesitating to read it because it has so many chapters and I'm afraid that it gets repetitive over time.
overall yea, it's worth the read. the plot does suffer a bit in certain arcs but it's still enjoyable nonetheless (⌒▽⌒)
Bruh every time I thought " this gotta be the killer" and then it turned out not to be I also expected a completely different story at the beginning, but it was such a great read nonetheless. I recommend this to everyone who stumbles upon this!
